We are happy to announce that we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Company of Heroes staff! Our goal is to become a major Company of Heroes community site, and in order to do so we must produce interesting content and organize unique in-game events for the players. By joining our staff you will get the chance to shape the future of this community and have some fun as we embark on this journey to explore the game in ways that haven't been discovered. As a staff member you have the chance to become a recognizable and respected member of the Company of Heroes community by providing the players with content that they will find interesting, organizing unique competitions, and getting your voice out there. As a junior staff member you also have the chance to work your way up to a senior position, where you gain additional responsibilities and even greater influence over the section's overall strategy.
When you're a staff member at any level, the same basic perks are available to you. These include a larger inbox, and access to the staff areas of gamereplays.org for not only your own section, but every game's staff forum. So if you want to help out with another game section when you're on Company of Heroes staff, then feel free! You also get basic moderation powers in the section of your responsibility. The main benefit is that you get a much bigger sense of responsibility than you do by just being a member. It is also a good chance to earn respect from regular members and staff members alike. And a staff position can also look nice on your resume/CV, depending on the work you're doing.
If you're a big fan of the game as we are and want to share your skills with the community, you should definitely consider this opportunity. Here is a description of the staff roles we are currently looking to fill.
Discussion moderator is a great position for those who love the forum experience and like to promote healthy discussions! Moderators are expected to remain active in the forums, guide discussions, and report inappropriate content. Those who think they have what it takes to keep the house in order should PM Locutus
with an application.
Tournament Referee help run tournament events hosted by GameReplays
. They help with conceiving, organizing, hosting and presenting the results of tournaments. If you have a helpful nature and enjoy tournaments, this is definitely the right staff position for you! You must make sure that you can make at least one "free" weekend a month to host a tournament, as they can often go on for hours at a time.
Commentators create videos (often with voiceovers) around the game that players may find interesting. These can include basic Let's Plays, video guides, and pretty much anything else that is interesting or entertaining (preferably both!). They may also livestream, if they are able. If you're good at video editing and have decent equipment an a good voice, definitely consider applying!
Writers are responsible for posting official news updates about the game and coming up with unique written pieces that players may find interesting and cool. If you're good with a pen (well, keyboard actually), this is the role for you.
Strategy Specialists are professionals at the game. They know the most effective and cutting edge strategies with a specific/multiple class. It's their job to assemble and present this information in a way that is easy for a new player to learn the most effective strategies and tips needed to be successful at the game. Strategy Specialists write guides and guide newer players towards success in the forums. If you consider yourself very good at the game, and want to pass on your knowledge (and gain some prestige with your fancy Strategy Specialist badge), this is the role for you! It's also worth noting that the most elite Strategy Specialists can even become Company of Heroes Experts, a special designation that will be added in the future for only the best of the best at the game.
Artists are great at manipulating images. We have a lot of those to include in our content, and Artists help us by making them look as eye-catching as possible. Words alone don't cut it, we need professional graphics too. If you're a Photoshop kind of person, this is the role for you.
If you are interested in applying for any staff position, all you have to do is send a PM to ScuttleShip
, explaining the role you are looking for and how you plan to contribute. If you can give a small sample of your work, that would also be appreciated.
We hope you will consider this opportunity and good luck to all applicants!
