GameReplays.org _ General Strategies _ CoH Replay Analyser

Posted by: Architect Mar 5 2007, 21:54 PM

Hi all,

A new replay era has arrived.

http://coh.dyxtra.com/, an official GameReplays.org tool created by http://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showuser=73867.

Prepare to experiment one of the finest and detailed replay tools you have ever seen.
Just follow the above link, download the file, load the program from your desktop and open any CoH: OF replay. New analyzed and important in-game info will be available to you. From all the chat (possiblity of copy-pasting text) to a little map wich shows and filters where you micro/macro while playing. Filter by players or by clicks, constructions or special abilities.

I'm sure this is will help a lot of CoH users. To analyze others, to analyze himself and improve his game play.

Many, many thanks to the creator of this wonderful tool. A step forward in terms of replay analysis and a strong instrument towards a better reviewing process.

WOW! FFS WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?

great freakish work by Dyxtra, you are god among humans.

Played around with it now, and the possibilities are endless, only imagination sets boundaries

The CoH community grows in strength! ONE RTS TO RULE THEM ALL! wub.gif

first comment in epic thread ftw

Architect, would this make my http://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showtopic=204666 feasible to implement?

Posted by: Yahtzee!!! Mar 5 2007, 22:13 PM

looks amazing

Posted by: Vinz Mar 5 2007, 22:17 PM

nice finnaly a tool to change the ingame name of replays. among other cool things it can do.

Posted by: mwaf Mar 5 2007, 22:18 PM

Wow, this tool really kicks ass! Gotta love the CPM values of the Golradaer vs. HeroicCompany games.

Posted by: Gunnerside Mar 5 2007, 22:19 PM

Wow, this opens for some interesting possibilities ohmy.gif

Posted by: Morpork Mar 5 2007, 22:31 PM

Nice job Dyxtra! This is great for RR's. smile.gif

Would be nice if the map was like 1024x768 or something.

Wait, nevemind. tongue.gif

This is a great tool! Thanks Dyxtra!

Sweet tool. after playing around with it I've come to a conclusion. in most games the player who has more movement commands normally wins the game. what it looks like is the player that does more movement cmd's micros there units more and in general wins the game.

Posted by: Xinterp Mar 5 2007, 23:06 PM

Simply amazing.
/bravo Dyxtra.

00:01:07 xxxx orders a unit to enter a building
00:01:07 xxxx orders a unit to enter a building
00:01:07 xxxx orders a unit to enter a building
00:01:08 xxxx orders a unit to enter a building
00:01:08 xxxx orders a unit to enter a building

I use it sometimes. Especially when I'm moving mgs or at guns across unknown territory.

Posted by: hillhome Mar 6 2007, 04:20 AM

I believe all orders given via the Tactical map are "Attack Move" orders. I could be wrong on that but... well I don't think I am.

Downloaded, I'll install this and play around with it soon. Hopefully it will give more insight into Replay Reviewing (which I think just entered a new era of wacky for this game lol).

Posted by: Neilius Mar 6 2007, 04:29 AM

THis thing is cool, thanks to Dyxtra. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Eihen Mar 6 2007, 04:39 AM

quick question, would this work if I didn't have CoH? I've been wanting to watch some good replays to see if the game is worth getting and was hoping that this would work.

Pretty sure your spot on there... I use the Tactical map a lot and a see I have a lot of attack moves ... interesting though as I didn't realise that but it makes sense thinking of what the odd unit has done

IMHO it would be even cooler to have a menu dedicated exclusively to each player's build orders in future versions smile.gif

*gulp!*

Now I have proof for what I allready knew: I'm a lazy bastard and my enemies are high on stuff with an APM that goes through the roof (where is my goddam graph? Oh there....a snail at the bottom, chugging along)

Posted by: Sle Mar 6 2007, 14:38 PM

This is ridiculously good. Filtering "Construction" for instance gives you BW positions, the lot.. Colour coded commands - the author deserves a medal.

That's my man Dyxtra! I mentioned this analyzer in a 1 vs 1 Replay thread I started months ago (it has yet to be reviewed eyebrow.gif ). He's been corresponding with relic to alot decypher the hexvalues in the replayfiles. I can take a little credit for the analyzer, since it was my idea to add the the minimap biggrin.gif.

ik jat gewoon je thunder Dyxtra banana.gif muhaha

He's done an amazing job! Dyxtra, you're the king!

That's the point/perk of this analyzer. You can pretty much check out replay stats at work or at home without having coh installed. All you need is the replayfile and you're all set.

Posted by: 2YearsofHell Mar 6 2007, 15:22 PM

Damn that's nice ...
BTW, is it possible to have the detailed orders for one player specifically ?

Thanks a lot for this !

Posted by: Dyxtra Mar 6 2007, 18:06 PM

Wow, thanks guys. I honestly didn't expect such a positive response. Glad you like it, and find it useful even! Happy to give something back to the GR.org (and COH in general) community, although I've only registered here yesterday I've been coming for a few months and downloaded quite a bit of replays (loved watching replays ever since the Quake 2 days). Together with ToH I've probably watched more of CoH than played it tongue.gif

Hi Dyxtra-

are the informations/ statistics at the end of a game stored in replays? ) = endscreen/statistic- u know what i mean?

so u can look how much ressources the players collect etc, or how many infs was killed etc..

this would be very nice!

Oh God, please no...this isnt one of those APM counters that WC3 is plagued with, is it?

Where the first 2 minutes of every game was Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud Thud (the rally point marker being clicked non stop to artifically boost the APM)

smilie_bleh.gif

Posted by: moin Mar 6 2007, 20:17 PM

wow - i am scared...

i dont consider myself a good player but i didnot thought that i was that much of a noob either.

just checked a couple of my replays and i mostly have something like 15 cpm while my opponents (even those that i have been wining against) have between 30-50 cpm. hell i was once winning in a silver replay where my opponent gave 7!!! times more moveorders than me

what the f... are you guys doing?

i mean realy? what?

at least this one shows (i have no idea how the wc one work) an apm graph over time so spamming one thing only in the beggining won't do that much. it also breaks down all the actions u did.

and anyways why does it matter ? shouldn't only be the player playing interested in his apm ? who cares about the 'i reached 2k apm' brag replay some1 could post...

Meh, I am probably just speculating but the concern is what happend with WC3: When it comes to replays, everything seemed to start and end with ones APM. It becomes this wierd sort of focal point and rules out everything else; granted that speed has a lot of value and of course someone who doesnt even use ctrl groups (if there still is such a thing?) and relies on the mouse for everything is going to have a much lower APM than a vet, but there are many more variables in this game other than raw speed and how fast one mashes buttons/clicks the mouse.

Now we just need a tool that can convert replays to movies so we can watch the actual battle (tac map) w/o running the game wink.gif

Posted by: Nolite Mar 7 2007, 09:45 AM

SgtBulldog: That was actually pretty much done in BF2 through a ReplayWiever that started the replays through the game in windowed mode.

Seeing this tool together with a replay in real time would be gold imo. Thanks for the tool though Dyxtra, great stuff!

I suggested that too, sadly the replayfiles don't keep records of kills. Only info on the commands and their coordinates are tracked, the game processes that and kills are then filled in by the game engine. I think that is the main reason why the files are kept so compact.

C++ and native (or whatever you wanna call it) Win32/Windows API. It is my first Windows program so it has some quirks here and there, I'm still learning.

I got 99,9% of the information by looking at the hex data of the replay files basically. I recieved one e-mail from Relic (thanks Buggo & anonymous Relic programmer wink.gif) with header info (type of game, game options, that kinda stuff) and the rest I figured out myself (ommands, coordinates etc.).

Posted by: Architect Mar 11 2007, 12:58 PM

You sure its a 1.5 replay?

Posted by: Chokobo Mar 11 2007, 14:37 PM

FANTASTIC PROGRAM!

and yes, it does need to be a 1.5 replay.

Posted by: Dyxtra Mar 11 2007, 15:20 PM

The 'Can't open file' message is because my program does not support all character sets (yet) so when the path to the replay file contains those characters, it can't open it. Try moving the replay to something like C:\ (or any path without dem craaaazy characters). Should work then.

Btw it doesn't have to be a 1.5 replay, 1.3-1.5 all work, so do 1.0-1.2 but they have some incorrect data here and there.

Not so much releasing my code, but when I have the time I'd like to write down/organize/categorize and release the info I know about COH replays (after asking Relic if that's ok, I'm guessing it is but I'd better ask first) so other people can use it to make programs and other cool stuff much better than mine tongue.gif Don't expect this anytime soon though.

I would also love a resizeable or 200% map feature, the map window is tiny both my desktop and laptop lcds which makes it really hard to see what's going on.

Thanks agains! I'm just starting to enjoy this awesome tool!

Great tool. Found it amusing that HC was listed as "super-human" in my replays against him =)

I also had 2 more APM and he still won =(

Posted by: demonace Mar 12 2007, 04:07 AM

I looked at this tool and I go..."Ohhh no, here comes the part where I find out how many times I suck a min." I come to find out that the more I suck a min the more I lose.

So now i've hypothisized that the more I click the mouse at stuff the more I win.

Hope this works out for me.

HC has to have carpal tunnel with 45 CPM, what an @$$ .... :\

QUESTION: Does this also calculate in your hotkeys that you press?

What is tac-map format?

My suggestion was to use something like the in-game tactical map for a motion replay. Or to use the map of the kind you are currently using.

It would be so useful to see how players moved their forces and thus see a strategic replay, but still without having to run the game. You allready know where players had units and build stuff in a game so perhaps it could be put into a timeline and then animated?

I guess they won't let you use the code from the in-game tactical map, but perhaps you can use a customised one?

Depends on what the hotkey does, if it's like a build command, then yes,. But stuff like assigning a number to a group with CTRL+# is not stored in the replay.

Ahh, tactical map smile.gif I've had a lot of requests to do a time-based map view so I'll see what I can do with that. I can't show unit locations though, since that's not stored in the replay (afaik).

the only info the replay saves is the commands since all pathfinding and other ai is defined by code you don't need to have any of this information in the code, the only possibility of putting in movement data would be through analysis of the maps through a seperate program and exact stats on the movement of every unit and also the ai of those units which all determines where the unit is moving and pathfinding etc. in other words movement data would be imposible

Posted by: Vinz Mar 15 2007, 00:32 AM

good point ... i taught commands would be enough but obviously not smile.gif

Is it me or never built structures appear on the minimap ? didn't take the time to check if it appears in the stat but it probably does too ? if i give the order to build some barb wires then immediately cancel it i think it appears on the map.

QUOTE(RunPower @ Mar 7 2007, 08:17 PM)

I suggested that too, sadly the replayfiles don't keep records of kills. Only info on the commands and their coordinates are tracked, the game processes that and kills are then filled in by the game engine. I think that is the main reason why the files are kept so compact.

QUOTE(Dyxtra @ Mar 8 2007, 14:21 PM) *

Correction: that's what I think is the case, there is still data I haven't been able to decypher yet.

Replayfiles must record when units fire, whether the shot hit, and how much damage the shot did. I say this because these things are random and the replay must play exactly the same every time you view it. The only way I could see this stuff excluded is if they somehow record the random seed in the replay, but that seems really unlikely to me.

New version released! Get your COH Replay Analyzer 0.4 http://coh.dyxtra.com/.

Changelog 0.4
=============================

* Added Map View Player.
* Added Command Log filter.
* Added Unicode support.
* Added grouped movement tracking (under Command Statistics -> Move).
Example: "Moving 3 units: 20" means the player moved a group of 3 units 20 times (counts as 60 move commands).
* Added option to show lag messages in Chat Log.
* Added cancel, rally point, unit specific exit, speed build commands.
* Fixed missing Defensive Bombardment, Detonate the Goliath commands.
* Fixed Nebelwerfer production command not showing correctly.

Thanks for all your suggestions (haven't added all of them yet), especially the time-based Map View was a great idea.

Good idea, this grouped movement tracking was something I implemented rather hastily to see if it would work, the next step is now tracking all grouped commands and then can do what you suggested.

Think I found what is was. When you select a unit inside a building and right-click on it, it also exits (I didn't know that), and it is a slightly different command from the unit exit when clicking on the exit button so it didn't show up in the analysis. Thanks for spotting it.

could you make it that when you 'play' the map viewer
it highlights the orders issued on the command log in synchronization to the dots appearing on the map.
so it's easier to follow whats happening?

That's a good idea, I wanted to make the graphics on the map view more diverse (so instead of a circle for every Special Ability, you could actually see which kind of ability was used) - linking the command log to the map view would also help with identifying the actions. I'll see what I can do.

Not to get off topic. I was really wondering how much further you are wanting to go with the analyzer. I am in love with it since I am an RR and it lets me know where the main battles are, and what the player is doing at certain times. I was just wondering what, if anything, else is going to be implemented into your analyzer.

Unit tracking is something I'd like to add. So instead of "Player A orders an attack on a unit" you would see "Player A orders Riflemen #4 to attack Player B's Volksgrenadiers #2" or something. This would also enable command stats per unit, so you could see how often Player A's Riflemen #4 was ordered to attack or throw a grenade for example.

However because replays don't log unit info (just commands), it takes some basic emulation of COH's production and unit ID numbering to link the correct unit info to an ID. So I don't know if that will actually be possible. Fun to try though wink.gif

OMG the new map view player is TOTALLY BOSS!!!!

A couple of requests:
1) Can it be bigger? twice as big would work for my monitor. Even 50% bigger would be awesome.
2) I reeeeeeally like the way you differentiate with symbols, e.g. mines and wire are little "+" as opposed to dots. Could you take this one step further? Maybe use different shades of blue & red for mines & wire in particular? Also a different icon for bunker could be cool.

This tool is the best.

Hey,
i updated my anti virus yesterday and it said that the cohra.exe is a trojan with the name TR/Click.A.182272.B
I'm not really familiar with trojans or coding. So does this mean that a virus infected that exe? Or does it mean that in the cohra.exe is some code that makes my anti virus think that it might be harmful? Should i be worried or not?

Thanks

Some viral programs dont like key loggers & im presuming the analyzer is a keylogger so the answer to youre question is dont worry

1) I'll probably add a resizable Map View to the next release so you can make it as big as you want.

2) Next version will have the option to show labels/text descriptions of the commands on the Map View, so you can easily see which buildings and defenses were built, and which Special Abilities were used instead of just the few shapes of the current Map View.

I can only vouch for the files at http://coh.dyxtra.com since I have direct control over those, and they are absolutely virus free. If you downloaded from my site and get a warning from a virusscanner it is a false positive. There is no malicious code in my program.

Try this:
- Open the command promt (Start->Accessories->Command Prompt)
- Navigate to the directory with cohra.exe (cd c:\somewhere\on\your\computer)
- Type: md5sum cohra.exe

If the resulting line is not:
dc01d4d2c0cd417daa9b556602285710 *cohra.exe

...then your cohra.exe file has been compromised.

(The above is assuming you have 0.41)

Hmm, I'm using WinXP as well, perhaps I've installed md5sum sometime myself. Anyway, it's a program that calculates a hash which is unique to that file, sort of a signature. If a trojan would have inserted code into cohra.exe, that hash signature would have been different.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Md5sum and/or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_functions if you're interested in knowing more.

Hello folks, new version available for your downloading pleasure http://coh.dyxtra.com smile.gif

Changelog 0.5
=============================
* Map View Player changes:
---> Added option to show text description of commands.
---> Added option to synchronize Command Log to Map View.
---> Added coordinate based unit commands.
---> Added special abilities that call in off-map units.
---> Added option to keep construction commands always visible when using small time ranges.
---> Map View Player screen is now resizable.
---> Optimized cumulative drawing speed when playing by ~500%.
* Added Halftrack load/unload commands.
* Added coordinates to applicable building/vehicle exit commands.
* Added time of last command to Command Statistics, useful to see if a player dropped from a team game.
* Re-enabled AI data for Command Statistics and Map View.
* Split Command Statistics in two panes for easier viewing.
* Fixed missing 105mm Howitzer Barrage, Attack Move variants, right-click exit building commands.
* Fixed problem with closed slots.

And I've tried my best to add unit tracking to the analyzer, but it's just not feasible with the (lack of) info stored in the replay. Bummer.

I've pondered that issue myself, but I asked Relic and they confirmed that info isn't stored in the replay which was in line with my own findings. Maybe it's magic ohmy.gif I think random seeds are strewn throughout the file though, maybe those are used?

Randomness in games is often based on a random seed. That is, a sequence of random numbers that can be generated based on an initial key. That key is randomly created at the beginning of the game and stored in the replay. The game can then count the same seed of random number for the game from that key. Consequently, only the movement commands need to be stored in the replay, the game can calculate the rest. This also means that modding/patching the game will result in sync errors. Example of out of sync could be the case where A shoots at B and then B decides to move to location C, and after a patch, unit A is buffed and unit B nerfed so that A instakills B and the game will get an Sync error for moving unit B since it doesn't exist anymore.

Obivously I do not know the exact details of how replays work in CoH so I might be wrong.

Hi dude. Love your tool. Many thanks for it.

I had a 2v2 game with a friend the other day. About 1/2way through, one of our opponents dropped. Then suddenly the other team got really strong and this one player controlling both armies nearly beat us (Airborne & AT guns pwn on Hill). I was wondering how he microed so well on such a huge map with so many units so I looked to your analyzer for some answers.

But sadly, all I got was a bunch of bugged out data. Here's the replay, perhaps you can have a look.

Ah yes, the dreaded combination of random positions, closed slots and no chat to verify. Two players were assigned the starting position (that value is used in commands) of closed slots here, which is why no commands were logged for them. Will fix this for the next release.

If you are talking about the Map View, when you throw a satchel charge in a building it won't show up because that command does not have coordinates but uses building IDs (same goes for grenades into buuildings).

Oh ok.. Well IMO the portal place is getting a bit too much filled with content, thereby being difficult to assess. Well I think it should be sticky'ed seeing that the "CoH multiversion" tool got sticky'ed smile.gif

hey, great tool,

I've been using it abit more since I've started to do some ShoutCasts. One thing that I thought may be an improvement for (IF) you going to put a new version

-In the Command Log, the ability to toggle Each player's commands. That way you can look at only one side to see what they are doing.

Not really a big deal, just idea really.

Posted by: S0litude Oct 16 2007, 09:41 AM

We really need an update for this one smile.gif
DO NOT RENAME YOUR REPLAYS ANYMORE!

All the nice features are in vain, cause it can't read the saved games anymore correctly. Propably cause of the change in the replay viewing system.

I had a fun bug with it:
Changed a name of a game and the result was that the tool deleted all the commands for the opposing team from the game biggrin.gif Even more weird was that the early game is normal. Resulting replay is somewhat hilarious to watch as my men do what I did with them, but they don't have any opponent to fight:

Posted by: Dyxtra Dec 10 2007, 18:51 PM

"Good news everyone!"

First let me explain why there haven't been any updates. Quite simple really, my CoH hasn't worked since the release of OF. I haven't played for months, because the patches just wouldn't work (gg Relic). I've read topics about people with the same problem so I know it's not just me. Very hard to check the new replay structure and update COHRA without a working CoH! Also, not being able to play CoH and other great games releasing in the past few months meant my interest in CoH faded.

However, motivated by my good buddy Lux I got the urge to play some CoH again last week. I tried once more to get the damn patching to work with his help. Multiple CoH reinstalls, MD5 checks, registry cleanups and some praying later still no dice sad.gif This time I really wanted to get it working though, so earlier tonight I installed CoH on a fresh Vista install on a spare HDD and behold, great patching success! (tried it earlier on a different Vista install, wouldn't work then either)

I've already sniffed the new replays a bit and it looks familiar enough. Only problem now is I don't have OF myself. as a result figuring out IDs of the new units and commands will be quite cumbersome. So don't expect a release soon, but at least I can work on it now.

I think the old version can still rename ingame replays properly, at least it still does for me anyway. It's good that this project is being continued since it is such a usefull tool.

This is good to hear, this is a great tool. Why not provide Dyxtra with a free copy of OF since he doesn't have it? I'm all for providing a small donation (perhaps through Paypal?) to contribute towards the cause, or is this against some sort of community rules?

Sounds to me like a good idea. This way we even can thank dyxtra for his time and effort he has and will bring into this project.
I think just a $1 per person should do the trick.

QUOTE(Epoch @ Dec 13 2007, 01:58 AM) *

Not really. Not even close.
Even if everybody who is playing CoH would donate $1 he would get something between $5000 and $7000. For this calculation I took into account the peak amount of players once online with CoH and the lowest rank I had.
But to prevent this smile.gif everybody who donated just leaves a message here. I think $30 should do the trick.

Posted by: DeadKennyIsDead Dec 13 2007, 12:12 PM

the peak number of players online is the number online at any given time. If Relic only sold 7000 copies they would be bankrupt.

Posted by: CommanderKickass Dec 13 2007, 12:28 PM

I`ll give him a dollar for this tool. Just 29 to go.

Okay you are right vcoh sold about 25.000 times. That would be $25.000. Still not even close to be a millionaire !

Oh yeah and Im donating $1 as well. Just leave me a paypal adress to deposit my funds smile.gif.

Posted by: Dyxtra Dec 17 2007, 20:17 PM

$_$

Donating won't be necessary, I appreciate the gesture though smile.gif

Made some progress over the weekend, already fixed most of the 'bugs' with 2.1+ replays caused by little changes Relic made. So now on to the what is the most work, adding the new stuff from OF and rechecking the vCoH parts. And hope I don't run into things like my compiler deciding to optimize away my code again, grrr.

PS CoH only sold 25.000? Deserves way more!

Hey guys, 0.7b available now. Beta release since there is some stuff missing or not working correctly, but thought I'd release it anyway instead of keeping you waiting even longer. For now this version should work alright in most cases.

Changelog 0.7b
==============
- Added preliminary COH 2.1+ / OF support
- Added AI takeover detection if a player drops (2.1+ only)
- Added 'Copy to playback folder and run COH'-option

http://coh.dyxtra.com

Note about AI takeover detection: I always assumed this just happened in team games, but I noticed it also occurs in 1v1s if a player drops. So in that case it tells you who won, an unexpected feature smile.gif A player will be marked with '*' on the Command Statistics screen if the AI took over, and a message is placed in the Command Log at the time it was detected.

The 'Copy to playback folder and run COH'-option is something I added to make watching downloaded replays easier for myself. It simply copies the current replay to the playback folder as 'temp_cohra.rec' and starts COH.

Fantastic! Just today I used the old version and wished there was a newer one banana.gif

Now I have to figure out why I have APS up to 65 (if it's correct) when Ani or other top players hover around 30-40. I must be doing something stupid to be so inefficient, haha

Ahem, one feature request:
It would be great if the 'File Open' dialog could remember the last settings or use 'detail view' with 'sort by creation date' by default. I guess that this is how most people use it in order to find the most recent files (naturally, I might be wrong). Thanks!

maybe something is wrong with the cpm...

my cpm are from 50 up to 100 with an avarage of 65-70 CPM frusty.gif

one of my last 2v2 ranked matches i got a CPM close to 100 in a 45minute game..ok it was a verry hard game for me because my teammate sucked as usuall in 2v2 ranked VeryFunny.gif

Make simple replays and look into the file?

Posted by: Kashll Jan 22 2008, 14:47 PM

Just FYI CPM increases can be attributed to blobbing because of an "interesting" way this program chooses to track CPMS. If you have 10 squads selected and right click once, it counts as 10 actions. Likewise if you have 6 squads selected and reinforce each 5 times it counts as 30 actions.

So it measures fake APM unless you never select more than one squad or unit simultaneously.

Posted by: evotech Jan 22 2008, 14:59 PM

hm, but you cant reinforce 5 squads at the same time, you have to click them all individually and reinforce.

But the blob thing is interesting

That would expalin why all the PG spammers I owned over the weekend were at like 78 CPM and i was around 20-25.

Posted by: MistenTH Jan 22 2008, 16:04 PM

Very awesome tool and very interesting.

My APM is around 35, and interestingly most of the players I play against are anywhere from 60 to even a 100. Yet I beat most of them.

Just because you click a lot doesn't mean it helps you win tongue.gif

Posted by: Dyxtra Jan 22 2008, 18:10 PM

Thanks guys!

I see the CPM discussion is back wink.gif Kashll is correct, COH logs and counts grouped commands individually. If you see a high CPM, check the grouped movement stats, usually a good indicator of blobness. Remember: CPM is not APM!

(checking for gropued commands is on my TO-DO but eh...it's kind of a hassle tongue.gif)

QUOTE(Blechdose @ Jan 21 2008, 19:58 PM) *

It would be great if the 'File Open' dialog could remember the last settings or use 'detail view' with 'sort by creation date' by default. I guess that this is how most people use it in order to find the most recent files (naturally, I might be wrong). Thanks!

Will look into that, I hardly ever open replays like that (just double click em) so I didn't realize it was an issue.

Ah, ok, i didn't realize that it will open the files by application parameter. Probably not everybody knows how to associate .rec files with COHRA. If you think it could be useful, I could send you the code (in C) to add/remove the windows file association between .rec files and cohra.

I also wonder whether the table with the summary of casualities and the other stuff which you see at the very end of a game is embedded in the .rec file directly, that means without calculating it 'on the fly' during a replay? I am always bummed that it is not shown at the end of watching a replay.

Sorry for not reading the whole thread. Does this work with custom maps and/or mods? If not, what can I do to help further along the support for such things?

Europe In Ruins players I'm sure would find this extremely useful. We also have around 12-15 maps that are being used with our modification.

Posted by: jjwa Jan 24 2008, 06:35 AM

(all in the current beta server)
I noticed in pretty much all of the replays I checked the location of the commands were not where they should be on the map, it should often be showed more to the south. Also, it regularly switches players and armies (my mate played british with commandos, I played USA with airborne, but it shows it the other way around, for example).

Hope this helps.

Custom maps won't show a map picture, other than that it works. No idea about mods, but COHRA can only show what it knows, so if you have new units/abilities/whatever then they obviously won't show up correctly.

What sort of license is this released under? Do you have any plans to release the source?

I'd really like to get it working with Europe In Ruins. However I use all custom squads, entities, abilities and upgrades. A lot of them are just copies of Relic ones, but I created my own copy so I can easily diff to their release for changes if I want to keep their changes in patches...

Does using a hotkey count as a click?
For example: You have two units grouped on key "1".

Now you press "1" and give a move order. How many clicks do you get?

1(for the "1") + 2(only 1 click but two move orders) = 3 clicks ?!? Or only 2 clicks for the move order?

Posted by: Eris Feb 27 2008, 07:02 AM

the 'copy to playback folder and run CoH" button is probably the main reason for my procrastination now tongue.gif

Changelog 0.8b

- Added missing Bedum & Linden map data

have not tried it yet, but that would be interesting to try out

i may should try it out tomorrow and update u

saving the game to temp.rec was disabled long time ago after one of the patches. It now saves only after the end of the game. I am not sure if it was enabled silently after all of these patches.

Didn't quite understand the last sentence there, but the it was publicly mentioned in patch notes that temp.rec will no longer be saved during the game. I can't remember which version this change was done to, but I'm guessing it's almost a year since that happened.

So, zGeneral, unless there's a bug somewhere, this tool can not be used for cheating.

If Relic had considered using this or saving a touch more information to demos. Wouldn't it be incredibly easy to redflag demos where a faction is spending more than it should be earning?

Demos should be able to track income rates and we know it's easy to track production with CoHRA.

Hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting. Between Resident Evil 5 and the new Left 4 Dead DLC my spare time has mostly gone into co-op zombie killing instead of working on COHRA (shame on me), but here is 0.9.

Changelog 0.9
==============
- Added Tales of Valor/2.501/2.502 patch support
- Added preliminary support for new game modes Stonewall, Panzerkrieg and Assault
- Added all new maps included with Tales of Valor
- Added Direct-Fire cursor tracking to Map View
- Added option to load external ID data
- Added option to override ID data
- Added option to export all internal object IDs to file
- Retooled layout slightly
- Updated all map images

Important new feature is the loading of external object ID data, this way users can correct any mistakes that I've made or add things that I forgot (both happen frequently wink.gif ), see the readme_external.txt included in the zip file for more details.

This way, COHRA can be kept up to date with new COH patches by the users instead of me (with the addition of three new modes in TOV, there are now so many IDs that it has just become too time consuming for me).

Also note support for the new modes is not great and is missing quite some stuff + 2.400 is indeed different from both 2.3xx and 2.5xx so I have not included support for that. See previous point on how to fix this yourself smile.gif

Hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting. Between Resident Evil 5 and the new Left 4 Dead DLC my spare time has mostly gone into co-op zombie killing instead of working on COHRA (shame on me), but here is 0.9.

Changelog 0.9
==============
- Added Tales of Valor/2.501/2.502 patch support
- Added preliminary support for new game modes Stonewall, Panzerkrieg and Assault
- Added all new maps included with Tales of Valor
- Added Direct-Fire cursor tracking to Map View
- Added option to load external ID data
- Added option to override ID data
- Added option to export all internal object IDs to file
- Retooled layout slightly
- Updated all map images
