Can someone explain the stupidity behind calling a patch 2.02 v..., rather than just going up to 2.03, 2.04 etc.

2.02 is simply a fun name for the community patch that aims to improve 2.01 (the latest EA patch). It is not a real continuation of 2.00 and 2.01.

The specific version of 2.02 is not really important, because people generally play the latest version. You can just ask: do you have 2.02? Just like you would ask: do you have Firefox?
You wouldn't generally ask people: do you have Firefox version 27b?

Whether there are big or minor changes, surely at this stage of a game's life (close to dead) you make it easier and just go up to 2.03 etc. Honestly it would make life a lot more simple and easier.

The name 2.02 has brand recognition. We will not change it.

The guys making it are very much focused on making the Age of the Ring mod so I wouldn't expect any progress on it for awhile.

There is one thing in the change log bothered me a llitle in custom hero section.. Nerfing some powers like glorious charge ,bombard and spear throw, and on the other hand other overpowered powers like whirlwind, coerce, and word of power are not nerfed, and basicly men of the west hero became useless compared to other factions, i think it needs some rework..

Since most people play without custom heroes, 2.02 hasn't really focused on balancing them a lot.

You're more than welcome to suggest balance changes for custom heroes so that we may include them in 2.02. Just open a topic in the "balance discussion"!

I've always hoped for CaH to somehow enter the competitive playing field, but I think there's almost always need be some kind of basic "rules". Suggest some changes and let's discuss it with the community.

There's just too many combinations of things to account for when using CaH and most of it is OP. The only thing I could think of to make them usable is to nerf every power they get to the ground so no one can make a super hero. That of course sucks and is not a good solution lol.

The ranging cost is also problem, hero with only lvl 1 power to become mounted is basically free but still comes with the full power of CaH stats. You could just dump all stats into attack power and health resulting unit that would be nightmare to deal with. No cavalry could kill it fast enough / duel it if no pikes were around.

They would need base cost high enough to matter, but to still be viable. Tuning them to be "competitive" would be huge job and tbh I don't think most of players even want to see them become popular.

You never know if you don't try though.

Well i really like how helpful the cah can be and how you balanced it in a very reasonable way.. My only complain is that you buffed some already very good powers like the whirlwind and word of power and left some other unchanged or nerfed so my suggestions would be to nerf those powers as well, (also i think the glorious charge must be nerfed but in a different way, like make it effective to all units but nerf it's enhancing values because 300 percent armor is too ridiculous)..
otherwise i really like the new health, damage and price values this mod has for CAH

I'm sure we could either increase the cost of each of those abilities or have them add a higher resource requirement for purchasing heroes with them.

Why not make CAH very expensive to make?
Make CAH base cost 2000 resources.
I have some other suggestions how too fix the high price if someone would want to make a cheap CAH.

I suggest getting in Edain's CAH stat system into 2.02, and by having 1 of the 5 stats making CAH get cheaper recruitment cost/lower exp requirement for each stat attribute point.
That way strong CAH would cost a lot of resources while "weak" CAH (CAH that has spend a lot of attribute points on cheaper recruitment cost/lower exp requirement stat) would cost much less resources.
