Hey. Here is the place where you can candiate yourself to help us to translate language. Candidate even if there are already translators!

To translate 2.02, you'll need to translate pieces of text and add them to the foreign language file, which unfortunately, is formatted differently.

For instance, this "string" (that's how pieces of text are called) from the English version:



Is replaced (work from a 2.02 Spanish translator -- but the principle applies to any other language too) by this:


As can be seen, the construction:
Title
"Text"
END

Is replaced by
Title;{Text}

Your goal is to update all texts in the foreign language file based on the English one. If you indicate you're willing to translate, I will send you the 2 files and indicate which strings from the English file you need to translate.

In addition, you may notice the following things:

• The \n character in the English translation is to be replaced by an actual "enter" (= new line)
• Any line starting with // is to be ignored. They can be used for reference as these lines often contain outdated translations.
• There are & characters in the text. The character after the & denotes the hotkey for that specific entry. For instance, fa&rm means the hotkey for Farm is R.
  You should generally not touch these. However, sometimes the English version clearly changes hotkeys as well. In that case it's up to the translator to choose whether this change makes sense in their language or not.
• You can't find the string in your foreign language file. This means the string was added by 2.02. Just copy it into your language file and make sure the pattern matches the other strings. So: use the ;{} notation instead of the ""END one.

I can translate into Dutch. I'm currently doing my MA degree in (literary) translation so I should know what I'm doing. I've recently returned to BFME and, lacking any modding skills whatsoever, I'd love to contribute to the community.
