Hi all.

Following your bugs reporting thread along with your private messages and ideas, I thought it would be handy to open a topic that will sum up all current items. I think that would be quite nice if it was pinned or something.

DodgeWars Beta 1.07.2 checklist

Problems to be resolved:
  • DreadReapr - app crashing in general. My guess is that could be .NET Framework 4.5 installation missing. However I need contact with you to investigate this
  • The way of determining who was host in game must be fixed (some players' game machines still provide that data wrong e.g. Mr.SmoKkkk, Asba`)
  • looking for the last replay file takes too long (TaDa)
Resolved:
  • Support for all team games: 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. OneVsOne and Team ladders
  • Who is online - list only one, the main warrior's nickname
  • Unreported match form - add a label to make it clear that you're selecting player who won game, not lost one. I must admit after I opened it again I could not remember which I was expeting from user to selec
To test:
  • Points penalty for inactivity
Upcoming features:
  • Support for all team maps
  • Game host should gain less points for winning a game for his on-host advantage
  • Save every player's replay in the replay directory after every finished game. This will help reporting manually later in case for some reason someone pressed F6 too early or wrong.
I will be updating it if there arrive any new items.

I strongly suggest to keep separate 1v1,2v2,3v3,4v4 ladders.

I enlight only these points:

1) it doesn't have sense that a 2v2 player can't be at top of his ladder because an 1v1 player is top rank. (or even worse is w/l points are calculated on rank that depend on 1v1) and viceversa.
Elo is a number that rappresent how much strong are you in a context. If you are a 4v4 pro it doesn't mean you are a 1v1 pro.

2) even this is your own project and you are the only one (with your friends maybe) that are working on, i don't like the poll so community decide.
GR staff sometimes had to decide againts community's opinion.
It isn't a rotwk gr project but we work for the same goal.

So u agree there will be not enough activity for 4 ladders but still want to make 4 ladders. Ok, but there is another problem - it will prevent from making clan system because there will be needed another 4 ladders(8 at all) what is nonsence. Imo would be better to make 1 warriors ladder where u can play 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, 4v4s and 1 clans ladder where u can play 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, 4v4s but only with your clan mates.

I'd say make 2 ladders. 1v1 and team (2v2, 3v3, 4v4)

Teams are free (no clans).

Naturally, people will not play ranked games with random nabs so you'll automatically get some form of "clans" (= ppl who like playing together).

Looks cool. If clans arent necessery so its even much easier to acomplish i think. Also i would replace "points" column with "streak" column.

You wrong.
I agree there isn't enough activity for even 1 ladder.
But IF STRAYHEARTH want do 2v2 and 3v3 and 4v4 ladder is better keep splitted.

Agree with brabox. Team free.

It has the potential to reduce the amount of possible teams. E.g. with ClanWars you can't be allies in one match and opponents in the next.

But keep in mind that with free teams, players can not be forced to play with anyone either. So let's say you always play 2v2 with one specific mate, that doesn't mean you can be forced to play with anyone else as your ally if you don't want to.

In short: free teams allows everyone to choose whatever they like. You can even make clans if you like!


On top of that, if the ladder software is built with free teams in mind, you could still do set teams as a manually enforced rule.

Which is the difference beetween 2 players that choose to play always together?
You would introduce a sort of team ranking?

I understand what you are both saying. To me it adds more competition when different clans are going head to head.
