Strategy game publisher Paradox Interactive have announced that they are acquiring BattleTech developer Harebrained Schemes for a sum of $7.5 million. In an FAQ posted on Paradox's forums, they clarified what the acquisition entails for both parties and how HBS would go about from this point on.

Highlighting the new delegation of responsibilities:

In their new role as a division of Paradox Interactive, Harebrained Schemes will gain access to an expert publisher with a strong reputation and a global audience. Paradox will handle finances, marketing, PR, and distribution, and leave the development to HBS. Paradox is bringing HBS on board because they like what the studio is doing, so nobody wants to change that. Fans of Harebrained Schemes can continue to count on the community involvement and visibility that the studio has always provided.Source: Paradox

In addition to that, Paradox also announced that they would gift a free copy of Stellaris to any player who had backed BattleTech on Kickstarter. More details would be revealed in a future live-stream featuring both Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, and Jordan Weisman, CEO of Harebrained Schemes, at Paradox's Twitch channel .
