Valve has announced that their popular gaming client, Steam, will stop supporting the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems from January 1, 2019 onwards. They made this announcement recently on their website:

Starting on January 1 2019, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems. This means that after that date the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows. In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.Source: Valve

Also of note was that users who are currently still on either the XP or Vista operating systems will not be able to access certain features of Steam, such as the updated Steam Chat, which is currently in Open Beta. Head over to the chat features page to find out more about the newly revamped Steam Chat.

Nonetheless, Steam will continue to function in running games on both of the aforementioned operating systems for the remainder of this year.
