Prize money is detrimental to this community?

Every tournament and challenge has a prize pool these days and fairly substanial ones imo, just look at how much Lucifer alone has donated recently ohmy.gif
Thats great to see, and its equally great to see the community so active. But is that money detrimental to the community at the same time?

Im not gonna quote a list of people here saying they only play for money but thats essentially what some of you guys are now saying, and if thats the case. Its not good for this community...

I would like to think most people play this game for loving the game and dont need money to motivate them to play. So my question is this, if a big tourney comes up with no prize money at all, would you still enter it?

detrimental means damaging if you dont know roll

To be able to win prize money, one must get better by spamming games though right?

It certainly has its side-effects but without it we wouldn't have the current state of competition.

I think my idea of the CW month was the best.

Everyone had fun. No shit boring tournaments which take longer to organise when they could all be played in 1 day.

Iíd play CW for free but no prize money for a tournament has yet interested me in noob bashing all these shithouse cunt noob fuckers.

I see it more as, giving back to the community and players for putting on such great matches and dedicating so much time to this game, I don't see anything detrimental about it, I'm happy to put money into the game and the zh community.

These posts sum ZH up pretty much.

Tournaments I've never enjoyed, always found quite boring unless 2v2.

CW is by far better in everyway

Fair enough each to their own, but the challenges only involve a hand picked select few top players which is not benefitting the community, maybe it benefits the streaming community who watch it but it does nothing for the remaining 99% of the playing community not participating in those challenges. Cw however has the potential to benefit the entire community and goes for an entire month

I canít tell you how spend your money and I canít say itís wrong thatís just my opinion on it

It does though, it creates entertainment for everyone in the community. As for cw, you can't stream every game so that also does nothing for the rest of the community. What I would like to see happening again is a big expert round robin, like karro did last year. That was really a lot of fun, loads of streams and quality games. With a massive pricepool it would be a really serious competition I bet.

The problem with CW is that most of the so called "top" players vanished or got owned by a random mish-mash of players in GOT clan.

Then there was a pathetic manhunt to try and save some pride. The best won, plain and simple.

CW won't work again because next time around the people who couldn't win will employ pathetic tactics.

Too ez

CW spamming improves the state of skill in the community.

A challenge stream leaves a bunch of AFK's in the lobby.

Na, it's just highlighted that some players aren't as good as they think they are.

And some of us are.

It's about who spams the most and shows that the players that thought they were good got bashed. By me. Me who never plays anymore. I bash everyone.

I am suprised your ego did not crash the clanwars website.
