The goal of this article is to provide a step by step on how to view Relic's retail map files, to use them as a learning tool to create better maps ourselves. If any of this violates the Relic's EULA, I apologize. Please let me (or mod's) know and we'll take it down immediately. (I am leaving for Turkey Day vacation next week. When I get back, I plan to put this on the wiki)
Make sure you have gotten the 1.3 patch (or later) which contains the WorldBuilder tool. For more information on getting setup and started with WorldBuilder, please head over to The WorldBuilder section of the Relic Modding Wiki
Open the RelicCoH.module. Under the "Files" tab down the left, you can find the MultiPlayer maps located under Scenarios->MP directories.
In order to open the map(s) you're interested, the minimum files you'll need to extract are the associated .info and .sgb files. To do so, right-click them and select "Extract File." The files will be extracted to wherever your "Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP" directory is located.
Open the .sgb file of the map you've just extracted in WB. When prompted about content control, select "Open for Add". As far as I can tell, "Open for Viewing" doesn't work.
NOTE: When I only extracted the .sgb file and tried to open it, WB would appear to do nothing. Upon 2nd try, I'd recieve the error "The file 'C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP\2p_angoville farms.sgb' is outside of all known mods". So if you're getting this error, make sure you've extracted the .info file along with the .sgb.
I was able to use this method to open Angoville and Semios so I assume it works with all the others. If not, please post the correct instructions for everyone and I'll fix my version when I get back.
Also I do not know what happens if you do not extract the other files. So I would suggest extracting all of them not just the .info and .sgb

If u still have COH beta still installed then it will put the files in that directory. Just uninstall beta. Then make sure u load the module that is in ur coh folder. U must tell it to go there and not the beta folder. Personally, I just forgot to uninstall it.
Hope this helps some

Open the RelicCoH.module. Under the "Files" tab down the left, you can find the MultiPlayer maps located under Scenarios->MP directories.
What file tab? the one in Corsix? if so the only options i get when i open the file tab after loading the relicmod is 'Close Mod' and 'Exit Mod'
In order to open the map(s) you're interested, the minimum files you'll need to extract are the associated .info and .sgb files. To do so, right-click them and select "Extract File." The files will be extracted to wherever your "Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP" directory is located.
And the only option in Worldbuilder under the File Tab is "New" "Open..." and "Open Recent" so it may be jsut me, but you have totally confused me on how to go about opening the retail maps...
Start Corsix ModStudio. When you start it the first time there is a screen with 7 buttons in the middle. Pick the "Load CoH Mod" then a window will open. In this Window you select "RelicCOH.module". After this the mod will start. on the left side the files are listed up. follow the instructions by PickItUp and extract the .sga and the .info file. After that you can start Worldbuilder and use the Open button. open the mapname.sga and its done
nice, mod part works for me but once i installed mod studio it wouldnt let me on worldbuilder. i dont no whats going on but i can play the map but cant edit it, hoopfully i can get in sorted but by the way, is it possible to extract the SP maps to edit.
Yes you can open the Single-Player Maps. They are saved at "...../Data/SP" instead of "..../Data/MP". Once you extract them they are find in the same Folder at "Company of Heroes/WW2/Data/..."
sorry about last post, i found it just after, thanks anyway but you probably noticed from other posts my worldbuilder wont work so i cant use this feature but future knoledge is priceless. just if anyone was determined, could they edit the tutorial map so it is a multiplayer map. thanks
I used corsix to extract St. Hillaire and i took a big stamp from it to make it into a 2p map. I made a new map and stamped down the St. Hillaire stamp and added the HQ's and bunkers. I then extracted the map into the .sga. When i start the map in skirmish mode my engineers just stand there, when i tell them to go somewhere they never move. The bunkers are transparent like they're in the process of being built instead of being there already. Also as soon as I try to make more engineers my population cap goes over even though the new engineers never hit the map.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem similar to this one.
i don't think this has anything to do with corsix tool or the retail map content....
But never the less, check whether you set the player assignment to both HQ's and the bunkers. If not, they are set to "world" but they should be set to "Player 1" and "player 2"
...following questions like this, pls post in the "Worldbuilder General Discussion", since this forum is for guides and tutorials, and questions according to those guides

new to map making, so it´s probably my fault, but...
When I try to open the relic.module in Corsix (V 0.5.5), i get the following message (check thumb below) with nothing happening...
so what am i doing wrong?
wanted to view retail maps to see how to enable players to choose inbetween 2 selfmade weather settings (read about the .options file, tried it but didn´t work...does it work for retail atmospheres only?..or am i just too stupid...?)...a step by step walkthrough for dummies would be great ...
2nd question: my text description, though visible in the CohLauncher, just doesn´t appear ingame....only way i got it going was when i reduced length to an amount, that completely fits into the launchers textfield.....edited .info file manually, and stayed below 255 signs (limit i read about)...has anyone of u already encountered this problem?
fast reply would be awesome as i try to participate in the map contest and would like to enable players to choose freely from 2 unique weather settings....
But for the weather options, about 10 threads down the page you can find this one =)
For your description, you have to open the mapname.info file with an editor, edit your description and save it after that you saved your map with worldbuilder and after that export the .sga, this way it will not get cut.
But for the weather options, about 10 threads down the page you can find this one =)
so it is impossible to embed 2 own weather settings?...damn feared it, cause i read that thread
For your description, you have to open the mapname.info file with an editor, edit your description and save it after that you saved your map with worldbuilder and after that export the .sga, this way it will not get cut.
I did that, otherwise there would be only the single line of text that fits into the WB description field, but i meant the launchers textfield (check thumb below)...pic1 shows non-edited version, with WB textfield text only (shows ingame), pic2 is with edited .info file and short enough to fit in Launcher textfield (shows ingame too), pic 3 is my prob: edited but too long for launcher (no text at all ingame)
what the hack am i doing wrong?
thx a lot OnkelSam
p.s: glaube du bist auch Deutscher...dann könnten wir uns das gebrochene englisch sparen
but it´s in fact much less then 255 signs...yet there seems to be a limit to it...i´ll count the signs and post the maximum amount, that still works for me...
oh...u got an extracted .options file? as i told u, my corsix just doesn´t extract a thing, so i f u could upload a version for 2 weather settings, i might try to simply exchange code-numbers and .asp files, to see if I get it going with 2 unique weather settings...
is it right to place the options file into the map´s main directory? (e.g. ...\MP\mymap-folder)
anyway thx a lot OnkelSam, u truely seem to live here
i placed some lamps in my map (daytime: night) and within WB everything is fine (glowing and illuminating), but ingame, they are turned off...got a clue why?
might it be due to the the atmosphere-settings? that they work only if u use a retail preset (relic-made) for night? or something about the .options file?
i chose to extract 2p_angoville farms.info and .sgb and when i went into c:/programfiles/thq/companyofheroes/wwii/data/scenarios/mp there were only the maps i have previously made ??? where did they extract to? because at first i thought maybe they just didn't extract so i did it again and it came up: this file is already extracted. i tried searching for it, but to no avail. any help? oh i also looked in the mygames company of heroes folder, but nothing btw im running windows vista if that might be a problem, because anytime i try adding or delete something in the folder it asks for admin privileges.
