Does some know how you would be able to edit the ini. file, or any other bfme file, that would allow you to zoom out a lot more while playing bfme. This would be useful for big battles, and would cut down on having to scroll alot.

Someone made a file edit like this a while ago, and I had it in use for a few months. Unfortunately my pc got formatted, so now I lost that file, and I cant find it again. Btw this COULD be used when playing online, no out of syncs or any other problems.

Does anyone know where I could find and download it again? Or could make/edit a file so it would allot you to zoom out more during games?

There were a few problems about this, seeing as the further you zoomed out the more you could see so the less fog of war there was. post-13661-1143531603.gif I beleive theres a topic around here somewhere. Check the BfME2 forums smile.gif

Is this what you meant?

Actually it does not clear the fog of war, just gives you more to see at any one time - like when you csroll over a mountain and the map view zooms right out

It was banned for a period as being a vcheat, then a group of people on gamereplays decided it was OK as far as I could make out.

Credit for the original innovation goes to my clanmate Grimbeorn who foiund out inw hat way to edit the maps.big file.

ya, it's somewhat a big file of 93 mb

add me: [email protected]

check me out when I'm online on msn or on gr.org

if you see me online on gr.org, just pm me, i'll go online and send you the file. Maybe if you do some search, you'll find it in the BFME's sections (probably the general discussion section).

NB: just to mention, I have it but I don't use it. If you don't have a good enough PC, you will feel it's laggy (this is my supposition, could it be also laggy for a Fast PC ? )

If your pc/connection is fast it will not lag unless the other player does smile.gif

Do people use this in online games? In my opinion it is fine for messing around with, but in competitive games it is most certainly a cheat as it provides a huge advantage ... but is that what you're saying (not trying to jump the gun)

If you are caught with this, you will be banned. Since it is classes as cheating

Agreed. This might be legal for bfme 2 but not for version 1 as far as I know - so it's best to not install it.

As Maddox explained it, EA does not consider this a problem. They only kept the camera height low to accomodate lower-end PCs. They don't consider this cheating.

I still don't think it's ethical to use this, think of how many players know nothing about gr and so are at a disadvantage over something that is not their fault.

Regardless of what EA or anyone else says, in competitive play this is clearly cheating as it by definition creates an unlevel playing field biggrin.gif.

No, you are wrong. A few months ago you would have been correct but not now.

EA themselves have introduced split screen/widescreen support for their latest games and issued a statement that EA no longer considers screen size to be cheating for any of their games. This is beause the new release games will support widescreens/split screens but some people will still use normal monitors so it is a user hardware issue, not a cheating issue.

If EA now take this point of view we cannot class it as cheating any more for any of the EA games we support on GR.

It isn't 'clearly' cheating because the uneven playing field is being expanded by widescreen monitor prevaIence giving players an advantage over normal monitor users. By your logic anyone who buys a widescreen monitor is cheating. This is why EA have altered their definition of the word.

I have a widescreen monitor, but play with 1024 x 768 without zoom wink.gif .

It's going to be even harder for new players now to enter the game if they don't come on here...

So does it work for BfME 1 or only BfME 2?

I don't know what's classed as widescreen monitor but I play on 1152x864.

hmmm.. now I know why I tend to lose every game. I was assuming most people had an advantage over me. Oh wait, they are probably just better players.

yea I doubt many people at all have this...
while it does make playing a lot easier, it doesn't give you that much of an advantage, its hard to explain... It just makes everything easier to handle, but no so much that it effects your gameplay/micro all that drastically, it just gives the controlling player ess frustration

I still play pro-like without it tongue.gif
