This report by Activision-Blizzard gives us some insight as to future plans as well as how the powerhouse gaming team is actually doing. It's no surprise that 2010 was a great year for Activision-Blizzard. Not even considering the many Activision distributions, Blizzard had 2 huge releases in 2010, StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty and World of WarCraft: Cataclysm. However 2011 will be a somewhat slow revenue year for Blizzard, as it's not likely we will see StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm in 2011. Instead Blizzard will focus on having 2 big releases in 2012 which will be StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm and Diablo 3.

Because Blizzard Entertainment has not yet confirmed the launch date for its next global release, our outlook at this time does not include a new game from Blizzard in 2011. Should we not release a major title from Blizzard this year, we would expect for planning purposes to launch a minimum of two Blizzard titles in 2012Source: Activision CFO Thomas Tippl

Looking at the Blizzard side of things we can see just how well they did in 2010. StarCraft 2 sold 4.5 million worldwide (the original StarCraft has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide) and over 150,000 community maps have been uploaded to Battle.net. Subscribers to World of WarCraft hit a huge 12 million in October of 2010 and Cataclysm sold 4.7 million in the first month. Blizzard also released and continues constant improvements on the new Battle.net that will play an important role in any future StarCraft release. We can also look foreward to Blizzcon, again this year at the Anaheim Convention Center on October 21 and 22 and possibly the Battle.net Map Market later this year.

I don't mind if you like hello kitty online-like games but if SC2 was less of a boring game they would have probably reached far more sales.

Its not a big secret advertisement done by EA is always significantly better as that of Blizzard.

SC2 is really boring to me. I have the feeling that I have been playing that game for ten years now.

You wanna tell me that when unit killing other unit for like 5 minutes, there is no base building and you can't lose due to unlimited mcvs isn't boring?

And that's apart from the fact that C&C4 is a huge poop to the face to old school Tiberian C&C fans. And apart from retarded graphics, unit and map designs? meh.

QFT tho, sc2 is definitely boring.

Screw console gamers, RTS is best on PC.

Most people don't care a lot about how fluffy the units look like but I don't mind if you do.

Can you tell me what is not boring about spending 5 minutes to do generally always the same queue play 3 minutes of the battle that matters, spend ten minutes to round up without any chance of the losing person to return and continue to the next game?

You talking about scII? Cuz I don't play that boring cr4p at all, never touched it.

I guess EA's marketers was right going the way making a bright coloured, retarded bs instead of a real RTS. If you liked it so much. Any way I've heard that average match in C&C4 takes 1 hour.

The length of the matches depends. ROFLStomps last for 10 minutes, while a match between organized teams may last for 45-60 minutes.

EDIT: As for CNC4, I'm in the "breath of fresh air" camp.

Thanks for the post Strafes! Nice work thumb.gif

I'm always curious as to how many copies have been sold, and wonder how accurate this number is, and exactly when this document was published.

Whoops I edited your post instead of reply soz.

Anyway the report is from February 9 2011, AMG found it somehow. Gotta be the most accurate out there it's a year end report for stockholders.

Interesting things in there about all the weird Call of Duty shit Activisions got planned.

If it's a year-end report, those numbers probably represent the sales up until Dec.31? I wish there was a way we could easily get a more up-to-date figure. I wonder how many new sales they got when SC2 was recently approved in China.
