Battle for Middle Earth

I eventually upgraded to Windows 10 and now I can only tab out of the game one time. If I try a second time, it either won't let me go to desktop, or it gets stuck in a mix of BFME and Desktop and eventually crash down (debug message). If it doesn't let me go to desktop, BFME takes priority over every other program, I can not even open another window over my BFME interface.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with Win 10 or any ideas why this is occurring?

I have exactly the same problem, can only tab out one time or after finishing a game (one time too).its quite annoying.

Option 1: Try using compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3.

Option 2: Bypass the issue by running the game in windowed mode.

1. Tried all compatibility modes, nothing works.

2. Windowed mode in BFME is terrible (imo).

Same problem here...it pissing me off.

I believe all Windows 10 users experience this issue with bfme. It has to be something specific to bfme and Windows 10 as you can tab out with no problem on Windows 7 and bfme is the only game I have issue with on windows 10. Changing graphical processor to the Nvidia one if you have one for the game doesn't help in minimizing but at least prevent from game crashes.

You can have a similar effect to tab out by starting bfme from another virtual desktop and then use Ctrl + Windows + left arrow to go back to your main desktop. Just tested it and could go and go back from bfme to desktop 10 times with no problem except that sometimes I needed to press Ctrl + Windows + left arrow twice in a row to make it work.

Good call, that seems to work. Still a shame that Windows 10 isn't supporting BFME properly.

The most recent Windows 10 update fixed that issue for me.

ANy idea to make it work on Win 10?
i installed clean, then all in one patch.... then i created an options.ini and map folder....run as admin and XP sp 2 and 3 ....
nothin work!

Please be more precise with your description of the problem. What happens when you launch the game? Do you get a crash? etc.

it's all about compatibility mode
just disable it totally, don't use any
disable it for lotrbfme.exe and lotrbfme_.exe
it gonna work
