Campy Wehr on Beaux

Every time I get this map vs Wehr they just Camp and Buy Vet. As soon as I see the wire and TT's go up I lose hope of a fun game.
I've had some luck with this make or break strat but win or lose, I don't waste 45 mins trying to break his defenses only to find a Blob of Vet 3 units waiting for me.

It was necessary to throw a bomb into the destroyed headquarters, it costs 50 ammunition, but you allowed to build. This Russian player has eyes everywhere, you understand me, I'm sure of it...

If you're thinking he's using a Maphack then I would disagree.
I believe I've found a way to see who's maphacking by mathematical improbabilities in their stats. I've been working on it for several months and found it to be extremely accurate based on known maphackers and people that are thought to be.
His stats tell me he's not a Maphacker.

What if they don't do it every game? What if they started mh after x amount of games? Not attacking your method, just curious!

You are correct. There are many variables which is why I've been observing the stats for so long. Also it's impossible to read if they've only played say 100 games. Because it's based on numbers, the more games played the more obvious it is.

Fortunately it looks like most people open a new account to go with their new Maphack which makes it very easy to see. Cheats maphack to get to the top of the ladder. Can't do that with an old account with 1000 losses on it!

Thanks for the response. Good luck in your venture, brother.

wm cant push at early game per definition, escpecially on this wide map, any spread means risk of easy flank, so no idea why u complain about game mechanics. but still funny trash in this game, eating charges on both sides due to way to much action biggrin.gif tongue.gif

I love vanilla on this map and this game is good example why. USA often needs to make creative pushes using doctrine abilities and combined forces. And while WER can be campy on this map, you can sometimes see some cool off-meta stuff.

IDK why you cry about the camping. If you don't want WER to camp the west side, you can do a standard 2 engie open and send rifle+jeep west side to ensure you win first engagement. You instead prioritized capping the east and allowed WER to set up camp.

I don't get why all the fuss over one stretch of barbed wire. Was this just a ploy to make your opponent think you had given up before your major assault? Because that's pretty lame if so.

If you hold the top and middle VP, he won't be very successful camping as his time will run out. Calliopes and 105s will wreck a camper. But if anything, you've demonstrated how airborne can be very OP early in game with its ability to quickly wreck a base with recoilless rifles, satchel charge, AT drop, and strafe. Not shown, but also applicable, air has the upper hand in counter-sniping with recon run.

Concur that the Wehrmacht player did NOT have supplemented vision. If he did, it is highly unlikely your charge would have been successful. He reacted (somewhat) entirely after the fact.

There is no foolproof game statistics method to identify a maphacker. You can look at the overall win ratio for an army and compare that to the current streak. Someone who has 500 wins and 500 losses but a 20 game win streak is very suspect as the probability of this happening randomly is about one in a million. It might be tempting to think that anyone with a 30 game win streak must be maphacking. The problem with this approach is that games are not random. They may be intentionally stacked or consist of a team versus randoms which can allow players to far exceed expected win streaks, even absent a maphack. Players may also intentionally protect their win streaks by only engaging in sure wins. If you are thinking win ratios alone can spot a maphacker, I've seen legitimate 10:1 ratios and maphackers with less than a 1:1 ratio.

Analyzing replays is far more reliable than looking at player stats. If you had access to all the individual games for a player (not just the overall record), this could help spot maphackers by analyzing the trend in win ratios continuously over time. Players not cheating will show a natural progression of improvement while maphackers will tend to have a sudden spike.

Valid point. Not every maphacker will maphack every game. I believe some only maphack in games where they feel an edge is needed depending upon the level of the opponents.
