Good Game Against Double Brit Legends

Hey, glad you enjoyed the replay.

A couple of notes on your comment:
- we didn't disable the VP to toy around with the Brits. Usually, in 2v2 against any team with Brits on it, you will lose only by VP drain. So what is common practice is to scorch the middle VP to stop all drain. That will effectively "turn off" the Brits' win condition, allowing you to slowly kill them with late-game tech and vet (especially vetted hummels and panthers).

Also, commandoes are really risky generally for Brits. The best combination of docs is typically two arty players or arty and royal engi doc.

I lost a lot of games last week to these two Brit players, and every game they did two arty docs. The really allows the brits to be aggressive in mid-game and get crucial unit wipes they need on snipers and paks to quickly triple cap the VPs and drain axis to 0 before they get their key units out.

I think if one guy had gone commandoes here, the commandoes would have unfortunately been focused fired into oblivion by the 9 PG squads near the house.

I don't understand why these two Brits insist on spamming arty so much, even floating over 1000 manpower instead of getting some tanks out to hold their own ground with and even letting a couple of shreks sneak by blowing up the priests and howis.. artillery spam isn't even good vs PE, it's WM that can really suffer from arty spam and creeping barrage spam and even then the arty needs to be covered with a good blob or lots of tanks!

My guess is that it's habit. Most games they play will roll over high-ranked axis teams with arty. Especially teams with a WM player.

When something works for so long, you can start to play on auto-pilot a bit. Then when you are faced with a new challenge, you opt for what you're used to, and it doesn't always work.

I'm sure next time, they'd make a big blob and stuarts and staghounds and overwhelm us completely. At least this time, we caught them off guard.

Thanks for the response Nosliw. Just now seeing this. Turning off the VP ticker for axis makes sense to me. Seems like having different doctrines would offer better synergy but I defer to your 2v2 expertise which easily trumps mine. Your point about G43 focus fire is well taken.
