At Infineon's request I'm posting this game we just played, both of us thought it was quite good and I'd say it has been one of the best games I've played on Semois recently -- if any kind RR (or Sepha biggrin.gif) would like to review this for Infineon and myself, that would be great. Watch for the mortar action especially. Does the 7 CP Pershing come too early? Is the MPool really nerfed? Why does Gol micro his vehicles like a noob? Watch and you shall see.

Why did Gol micro his vehicles like a nub? who knows.
Why did Infineon let the first Pershing own him when he had enough shrecks to counter it? who knows.
Why wasn't there any Vet on the Tanks?

You get the idea ohmy.gif .

GG though, Gol screwed up the early game significantly but came back strong with the best unit in the game - the mortar bowdown.gif .

Overview
This is a decent game on Semois against the powerhouse Gol and one of the ESA members, which begins very badly for Gol. Infine controls the map throughout the early into the middle game, taking Gol down to only 152 victory points, a very low amount, but enough to strike back. Gol easily breaks through the base pin when he gets an AT gun and quad that make the infantry and Pumas perish with ease. Although a Stug surprisingly takes out an AT gun, this doesn't slow Gol one bit. As a final stand, Infine sends a big group of Storms and a Stug to north to slow the VP counter, but this does little since most of his Storms force is wiped out due to Allied infantry and a second Pershing called in. After a desperate attempt to call in a Tiger fails, both Pershings have fun at Infine's base, which ends the game.

Allies: Golradaer
Gol starts out with the predictable barracks starts on Semois pumping out riflemen through the northern portion of the map. However, well positioned MGs with the support of Volks push back all of his forces and really turns the tide against Gol early on, a very bad sign. Although, with the use of mortars and somewhat effective use of the WSC, he is able to get rid of these MGs and build a Motor Pool in time to get out much needed AT guns and halftracks. This allows him to literally destroy most of Infine's forces, dramatically turning the tide. Small battles continue as Gol begins to secure the entire map, however a large attack force strikes the North, causing him to lose this sector. Although, at the same time he is destroying most of Infine's, which a Tiger only slows for a small amount of time. Due to the VP counter lowering to 24 victory points left, Infine leaves the game, giving the victory to Gol.

What this player/team can improve upon:
  • Overall, micro was pretty terrible on both sides. Several of your vehicles and infantry got wiped out because you moved them around like someone who just discovered the ability to the click the mouse on the map. I'm assuming you know NOT to retreat your vehicles showing the rear and so on, so I won't give a long statement about that.
  • A single grenade from Storms took out about five men from one of your squads, watch out for those! A well positioned grenade on a squad being unintended can easily get taken out without you even knowing. Losing a squad so foolishly like that is very dangerous and takes away from your forces/MP.
  • You almost lost a Pershing because you didn't have infantry support there, although it came in late sparing you the lost. Be sure to always have infantry somewhere nearby to help protect armor against these threats.

Axis: ESAInfine
Infine starts out by pumping out a single MG and Volks to support it. With the help of additional forces arriving a few moments after, he is able to push Gol back into his base by winning several infantry skirmishes with effectively used MG42 suppression. After winning these, he moves his MG into the very typical Semois base pin on the northern land bridge, rendering Gol's early game into a haul. However, the use of mortars and a combined assault of M8s and halftracks forces him to retreat most of his forces in the middle. After this he sends two Pumas in hopes they will make the assaulting force easy prey, however a AT gun shoots this hope down easily. After this an assault force of infantry and a Stug makes another attempt, but is once again pushed back. At this point in the game, things are looking very grim for Infine as his forces are reduced to little. Unexpectedly, with two squads of storms and a Stug charge the North and seize most of the territory, however a Pershing wrecks havoc in his base, knocking out everything except the Sturm Armory and his HQ. To counter this he sends in a Tiger, but he sends this to the North, which ends being a big disadvantage since both of Gol's Pershings end up going to his base, ending the game for Infine.

What this player/team can improve upon:
  • What killed your secure map control in the middle was the fact you didn't have much to fight off the Motor Pool units. Be sure to get AT weaponry as soon as possible to avoid this happening.
  • As stated by Gol in the game, don't use Stugs to take out AT guns! If you use a Stug, you might as well GG Stug, use infantry instead! AT guns are very easy to get flanked by infantry.
  • Several of your units got wiped out, don't let this happen. Retreat a unit that has low HP so you don't loss a squad or vehicle, this will benefit you later on when you need the forces to strike back against any attack.
  • Your lack of infantry in the middle of the game ultimately doomed you. All you had was two Pumas without an support whatsoever, don't let this occur. Any vehicle without infantry support is bound to get eliminated.

Overall Rating: 5 - While it was a decent game, the micro on each side brought it down, making it a game that could've been better.
