[10] Siddy vs. [19] Seb087 - Semi-Finals Game 2 - Tournament XIV
Siddy - Wehrmacht
Seb087 - Americans

Seb put a huge pressure on Siddy right at the start of the game, and he managed to cap most of the map with his Riflemen, and holding it with an over-use of Mines. Siddy was finally able to set up a defensive position, and Seb had to hold on a little to not lose too much Manpower. To break that solid position, Seb used Demolitions Charges against the Bunkers, which is very useful. His early map disadvantage forced Siddy into Tier 2, which was well countered by Seb's Sniper who ended the game being Vet 3. Siddy managed to stay in the game against crazy Americans combined arms with some Tier 3 units mixed with his previous Tier 2 units. The stall until the mighty King Tiger started.

What to watch for:
  • Early WSC to counter Tier 2 units
  • Unexpected use of Demolitions Charges against Bunkers, which is very effective
  • Unexpected Sherman Croc to counter the Pak
  • Wehrmacht managing to stay in the game until King Tiger with good use of lots of different units from different Tiers.
  • Late back-tech to Motor Pool in order to counter heavy Axis Tanks with AT Guns
  • Americans combined arms in action

Great game Seb!

Your US play is inspirational. Very nice use of Demo charges, and the much unappreciated Croc! Been watching more of your games, and congratulations on the Tournament victory!!!

Great usage of the Demolition charges, destroying all the bunkers. Isn't worth it to wait before detonating them though? An enemy squad passes by, and bang! If he's careful, you would hinder his movement until you decide to destroy the bunker.

Also I liked Seb's patience while countering the pumas (awesome mines!). I think only a player with great skill and confidence can afford to do that. I mean he searched BARs, Demos, Stickies, and T2 before Supply Yard. What if Siddy went early T3 and Pumas? He had the fuel.. Then Seb made a Tank Depot, and when the Pumas were out, I expected him to make an M10, but he opted for the Sherman despite its low speed. Shows how confident he is.

Wubbed all the way!

Amazing early mines by US player. Prevented the Axies from gaining any kind of strong hold, also constant and persistant point harassment. These early game moves where the key. The US player then seemingly made some decions for a harder game with slow teching to tank depo and then sticking with the shermans. It was however exactly what was needed against what his opponent had on the field.

He made a motor pool just for the additional AT gun needed for the tiger and the stolen pak with a few stickies where enough. The shermans and snpier (which totaled 30 kills) swept up the infantry.
