I am unable to beat a decent player when I build a barracks first on Semois. I have had much more success with a wc. I have a big problem with early mgs. As always...any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Well, as they say "if it aint broke, dont fix it"... are you simply trying to round out your arsenal of strategies? I mean, why worry about barracks building if you are successful with a WSC?

Early MGs?

The axis player built one MG... after he built a volks squad and a motorcycle (and another MG much later). I wouldn't say that early MGs were your problem on this map.

The axis player tried to do the 'Semois Pin' yet failed because he did not adequately wire the far east land bridge.
You discovered this and got a riflemen squad and a flame engineer squad into the middle of the map. This would have been a PERFECT opportunity to kill the MG at your bridge (bait with riflemen while the flame engies burn!), yet instead you capped a VP and a fuel point that wasn't even connected to your territory!

Next, once you had another counter to the MG that was camping in the house outside allies bridge, you squandered it! You sent your first M8 straight into the axis base. Your 2nd M8 began attacking the MG but then you also sent it into his base. All you really accomplished there was delaying his panzer command.

If you had instead used your M8s to first kill the MG and then cap points with raid and riflemen, you would have had a much better chance of survival. As I'm sure you learned from this game, M8s cannot kill grenadiers w/ panzershreks. Instead avoid the grenadiers and decap/cap points elsewhere on the map.

You had so many counters to the MG on the field; you had riflemen w/ nades, you had flame engineers, you had M8s, yet you let the MG live and deny you access to the entire west side of the map for most of the game.

OUCH! THank you for your advice. I will take it and make the necessary changes in my next game.
