[R] Plan6 VS FMRommel

I really though right off the bat I had lost this game. The heavy infantry losses early one and numerous MGs took a huge bite out of my moral. The turning point was the huge push in the middle using rifles a jeep and the cheapest tank I could get, the M-10. It took constent pressure to uproot the Axis from their field HQ in the center of the map and it at several points I wondered if I was doing the right thing taking so many losses. Either way, heres the replay, send me a truely grueling review. I can take it.

"Smack 'em Down!"

IPB Image Plan 6 vs Fmrommel IPB Image

Map: Sturzdorf
Images seem to be down
Version: 1.2

----------------------------------------

Plan6 IPB Image

Building Build Order: Barracks, weapon support, supply yard, tank depot
Build Order/Strat: Mostly riflemen, a few jeeps, a few mortars, M10 and a sherman.
Doctrine:Infantry

Pros and Cons:

thumb.gif Good micro and usage, even though you took a lot of casualties, you killed what you set out to.
thumb.gif OPd points for better economy
thumb.gif Used engies in combat, we all know what havoc comes from those flamthrowers
thumb.gif Retreated well, and was aggresive enough to regain map control
thumb.gif Good riflemen ability usage. Lots of pinning and nade huckin.

sad.gif Didnt cap the +16 ammo near your base for a long while
sad.gif Had a lot of heavily damaged squads out in the field
sad.gif You didnt have to lose that M10, but there was a lot going on.

Comments:
Plan6, I dont think you played as badly as you may have thought. Your going to take casualties dislodging MGs, and those are acceptible. The only thing I was wondering was where your manpower was going. For a long while you only had a few riflemen on the field. WSC In my opinion, was uneeded; you could have put 2 more riflemen on the field or more and just run him over. The casualties you inflicted, compared to what you took, was a very good ratio. On your end it just seemed worse. Overall you played very well.

Rating: 5/10

FMRommel IPB Image

Building Build Order: WHermacht, Kreig, Sturm, Kampkraft
Build Order/Strat:Alternation of mg and volks, a few bikes, followed by grenadiers.
Doctrine: Not sure, didnt see any abilities used

Pros and Cons:

thumb.gif Very aggresive, taking and holding most of the map pretty early
thumb.gif Capped points for better economy

sad.gif Poor unit micro:
sad.gif You barely retreated, if at all
sad.gif You left many of your units wide open with no cover in most battles
sad.gif You ran your ac right into the middle of the rangers, garunteeing them rear armor hits

sad.gif You didnt cap the +5 oil or the +5 ammo in the east
sad.gif You were upgrading units when you didnt have the field

Comments:
FMRommel, your overall strategy was good. But your unit micro did you in. All of your losses were avoidible, but you retreated too late, or not at all. You built a lot of buildings, and didnt really use them. You only built 1 AC, 2-3 grenadier squads, then started upgrading units, while you were being pushed back. The veterancy isnt going to help when the enemy outnumbers your 5 to 1. Losing 2/3 engies early game as well as most of your volk squads hurt you in the long run.

Rating: 4/10

----------------------------------------

Match Comments:Lots of action in this one. A few large battles, but most were small. An M10 that couldnt hit a target 10 feet infront of it for 10 shots, and a lot of flammible infantry. Not as predictible as it seems, with an interesting ending.

Entertainment value: 5/10

Overall game rating: 5/10

Good god man. Its you. Clearly we need to find eachother again with our friend lists being destroy by the comming of the full game. Ill keep an eye out for you.

Sadly I havent been able to get through a full 500 point game due to dropping. But I wanted insight on my gameplay(sad as it may be) so up this game went.

On a side note, if Pillars sees this I would really like to hear what he has to think. He just beat me back into my base within the first 10 minuits of the game. I didnt even get a total of 60 fuel for the whole game. Clearly I need more work.

Well, I think if you go with rifle spammage, do it hard. Dont do WSC. Infantry co is a great idea, but hold those high munition points! That offmap arty is killer if you can afford it. This game had me scratching my head. Where did your manpower go early game? Im sure you could have had around 5 rifles on the field and you had 2-3 with a jeep. Just keep the nades flyin toward those mgs and you should be fine.

Sturzdorf is an interesting map. Its seems to work best if you pick an area to hold (eas or west) and push into the middle from your base and from the place your holding. If you go infantry, make good use of mines with your riflemen if you can afford it. Even if you only get 1 guy with the mine, the whole squad is semi pinned for a good 15 seconds.

Just suggestions though.

Ok I was banking MP for the Tank rush I knew was comming. I had just gotten AT drop with paras was counting on the teir 3 stug push. As for the weapons support, I really wanted mortars. The smoke and the fire I would be able to put on the center sounded too good to pass up. Also if I needed MGs to hold the center while my rifles did their thing, I didnt want to have to wait for them.

Thanks! I enjoy writing reviews people actually read happy.gif

WSC is good, but I rarely use it as allies. If I use it, I dont use the barracks. If your banking on airborne units, and your not going to go armor, then it works out alright. Airborne units alone though have a hard time winning against a good teir 3 rush.

Of course this is imo, but after seeing sephas riflemen only strat, Im a strong believer in the pure riflemen spam. Its heavy micro, but it works beautifully until you can get your armor rolling.
