As you may have noticed, DotaReplays.org hasn't had any updates regarding Dota 2 for the last few weeks. We do apologize for that, it's not something we intended on doing. So today, we've decided to do a catch-up news update regarding the last three major patch updates to the beta, including today's.
First of all, there was the Thanksgiving patch update. This update wasn't very substantial in comparison with previous updates, considering there weren't any new heroes introduced into the beta. However, this doesn't mean that the update was without merit. Due to the update, players can now save and load their private matches. This means that if the game has to end prematurely for whatever reason, players can now pickup and start a new session of the game they were playing from where they left off.
The second update was released last Thursday, and introduced N'aix, the Lifestealer. This is the only hero from DotA that has the ability to leap into an enemy hero's body, then jumping out for a nasty surprise... This update also brings in a upped leaver detection sensitivity, which now results in leavers being put in a separate matchmaking pool from the rest of the community that's playing.
The third update, released December 8th, brings with it Krobelus, the Death Prophet. This hero is particularly interesting, as her Carrion Swarm spell can make her a good spell caster, but she can also tank a lot of damage for it's team if the right items are bought for her. This makes her particularly harmful to an opposing team if played properly.
Along with this update, there have been many bug fixes, and even a new Ancient destruction for the Radiant team, as well as a new loading process, where if somebody doesn't load into a game properly, the rest of the players in the game are returned to the matchmaking pool with a high priority.
