Armored and Ready: The Arsenal of the Steel Talons

IPB Image

After the Second Tiberium War, General Joshua Mitchell managed to successfully push for the creation of a battalion focused on armored combat even as GDI's overall emphasis was shifted away from fighting Nod and onto halting the spread of Tiberium. Mitchell's unit was quickly dubbed the Steel Talons and drew notice for its hard-hitting tactics. The Steel Talons eschew sonic weaponry and advanced infantry in favor of even heavier armored firepower than deployed by most GDI units. While most of GDI traded their walkers for more traditional Predator Tanks and APCs, the Steel Talons retain upgraded versions of the Titan and Wolverine walkers and have added Railgun Accelerators and Adaptive Armor to their heaviest vehicles to provide added late-game punch.

In comparison with the standard GDI arsenal in Kane's Wrath, players will note these key differences:

Alternate units: Predators have been replaced with Titans, APCs have been swapped out for Wolverine walkers and Mobile Repair Transports, Harvesters replaced with Heavy Harvesters, and Juggernauts swapped for Behemoths. Also, Engineers have received a small upgrade into the Combat Engineer.
No sonics or heavy infantry: The Steel Talons do not use Sonic Emitters or Shatterers, nor can they construct the Armory. As such, they do not get Armory upgrades and cannot train Snipers or Commandos. They also do not use Zone Troopers.
Faction-specific upgrades: Adaptive Armor allows Titans and Mammoths additional protection while lowering rate of fire.
Modified support powers: The Bloodhounds support power drops 2 Wolverines and 2 Pitbulls. Sharpshooter Team, GDI Airborne, and Zone Trooper Drop Pod are not available. Railgun Accelerators boosts the rate of fire of all Railguns in the area of effect at the price of sustaining moderate damage.

Be aware that other changes including prices and unit statistics may differ from the standard GDI arsenal. Check out our full listing below for the complete Steel Talons inventory.
