Kane's Wrath Expert Player: Eclipse

An expert can be defined as a person with a high degree of skill or knowledge in a particular area. Today, we're proud to recognize a new Kane's Wrath expert – Congratulations Eclipse!

Eclipse had six replays on recent Best Replays of 2011 and he also was Player of the Month in August 2010. GameReplays.org's Vivo had the pleasure to talk with him recently.

GameReplays: Name, age & location please.

GR: How long is your history with Command & Conquer games, and what was the first title you encountered?

E: I played a few games of Zero Hour, but I really got into it after Kanes Wrath came out.


GR:What is your favorite Command & Conquer title?

E: My favourite game is Command and Conquer 4 of course. But if you really twist my arm I would have to say Kane’s Wrath. Yes, the game doesn’t have the proper support, has many bugs and imbalances, but you would be lying if you said it’s not fun as hell and that is the only reason I have ever played this game, for fun.


What are your biggest achievements in Command & Conquer games? Is there something you are particularly proud of?

E: None. It’s video game, I don’t use it for ego boost, or monetary gain, just pure entertainment. If you had to define it, my biggest achievement is to have witnessed what this game can really be in hands of true masters. (when khufu, dackel, dynamic, voddy, and technique use to play)


GR: Do you have a favorite faction or map?

E: I am a big fan of GDI. I believe that the most powerful faction in the game is Traveler-59. I have no respect for Black Hand players. Unless they are used to kill t59. Cause I hate that faction too. In that case I don’t respect either player. Unless I play one of the factions. In that case it’s all good.

Tournament Rift and Tournament Dustbowl are the only good maps, because they are open so a less skilled player has a harder time winning by just camping or teleporting prodigy up and down the hills.


GR: How many games of Kane’s Wrath you have played in total?

E: I have around 5000 games in total from the first time I started playing.


GR: Do you watch replays, if so, do you have any favorites?

E: I use to watch replays back when all of the old pros use to play, but now the replays that are posted are of significantly less quality so I don’t really bother.

GR: Who is the toughest opponent you have played with so far?

E: I have had many players who have beaten me but the most significant challenges were: Khufu, Dackel, Technique, Spectre, Andre, Bonus, Unleashed, Enosh, Jony, Cyberstorm, Hidraulick, Commander NR, Aoenian, Green_Zero, Crazy_Ownz, Skyline_ownz, Mr. Sweetness, Gothic, Tomber, Dirty Dutch, Rubini, Ikkug, and anybody who I have missed I apologize cause there are so many. These players and many more add to the community and make playing this game a truly rewarding experience.

A special shout out to my long-time buddies Spectre and Andre who stuck with me when I was just a lowly noob and taught me how to properly play the game. I really miss the epic 2vs2 we use to have!


GR: We're just about done here, anything you'd like to say to the community in closing?

E: I wanted to thank the unswaying community who has kept this game alive for so long. You guys are truly something else. If we had people like you to run our government we would eliminate world hunger and have video game time for all. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking. Regardless, the fans of this game are the true unsung heroes. This game was put on the backburner since its release, but the fans still keep it alive.

A big thank you is in order to all who organize the tournaments and keep the portal alive, Vivo, Green_Zero, Jcd, Commander Nr, Mad, etc. You guys spend a lot of time and effort making sure to bring the limited kw community constant entertainment and although we may not always show it, we are truly appreciative of your effort. Thank you everyone and I leave you with the quote that inspired me like nothing else ever has.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
