Europa Universallis - Hungary Patch

By ScuttleShip - 20th April 2017 - 14:51 PM

It's been only 2 weeks since the release of Mandate Of Heaven. A DLC that changed the way Asia worked, reworked several of the core ai mechanics and the introduction of the Golden Age. Paradox Interactive are certainly keeping us on our toes and we must admit it's hard to not get excited about this latest update. This update is adding more events to Austria and Hungary, who are probably two of the favourite countries to play.

So what exactly does this new patch hope to bring for us? As the name would suggest there are some serious reworkings to Hungary, but alongside Hungary, both Austria and Bohemia have experienced some changes. This patch aims to capture a recovering Europe just after a shocking defeat at Varna where Hungary is without a king and Bohemia is in a similar position.

Hungary stands as the gateway to greater Europe and now they will have access to the Black Army. This army is an expensive but permanent mercenary force. These mercenaries are far stronger than your regular ones and you can expect them to hit hard. If you are willing to pay the price for them, you will experience +10% discipline up to the age of Reformation. This is certainly a price that is worth paying in most instances and I know it would certainly help in the defense of Europe which is currently a struggle for Hungary in their current state.

Alongside these updates there have been the addition of some map changes including the addition of several provinces, most notably in Hungary and Silesia. Events however are what will really help this patch take off. There is now the potential for Hungary to be declared King of Bohemia, allowing for permanent claims on parts of their country and early game events with the aim of recreating the Hunyadi family.

This patch has the potential to be something truly fantastic for a country that has long needed some tlc. Hopefully this change will help keep the Ottomans out of Europe a little longer.
