Greg Black Returns to EA

By FallenXE - 8th November 2017 - 14:00 PM

Former Electronic Arts and Command & Conquer developer Greg Black has tweeted on his handle TheGregBlack of having returned to the company and that he is currently working on an unannounced project.

Survived my first day back at @EA

It's a weird feeling being back after all this time. Can't wait to show you all what I'm working on.

Greg has worked on the C&C franchise since the Westwood Pacific days with Yuri's Revenge up till the development cycle for Tiberian Twilight.

In 2009, he had left EA for Zynga, where former Westwood founder Louis Castle had also worked at, and subsequently after that he joined Blizzard where he worked on StarCraft II's Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void expansions. It'll be interesting to see what he is currently working on, as EA does not have any studios that are dedicated to strategy games.

EALA had transitioned to Danger Close games in 2010, focusing on the rebooted Medal of Honor series, and after that did not go successfully, it was absorbed to form part of DICE under DICE Los Angeles. Similarly, Victory Games, the studio which was launched in 2010 to work on Generals 2 was also shut down in 2013.

We here at GameReplays will keep a keen eye on this developing situation and to see whether it could potentially spell another revival of the C&C franchise, or alternatively, represent another foray of EA into the Real-Time Strategy genre which it has placed on hiatus since Tiberian Twilight.

Do tell us your thoughts on this situation below and head over here to check out a past interview with Greg Black from circa 2010.
