Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War

By FallenXE - 10th December 2017 - 20:22 PM

Slitherine Games and Proxy Studios have announced a new 4X genre game that is to be set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Titled Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War, an announcement trailer has been released which can be watched below:

The game will be set on a planet named Gladius Prime and archaeologists of the Imperium of Man have taken an interest in it due to the amount of ancient relics that have been found. Said archaeological activity could have caused a disturbance because, as mentioned by Slitherine; Something awakened, an unspeakable horror from an ancient past, and the citizens of Gladius found themselves trapped in a terrible war for survival.

There will be four factions available for players to choose from:

  • Astra Militarum
  • Space Marines
  • Orks
  • Necrons

Slitherine has released a gameplay preview on their Twitch channel and from it we can see that the game is a bit similar to the Civilization series in terms of the interface and that it will be turn-based. The developers also have stated that players will be able to build buildings and harvest resources and that there will also be Hero Units available.

It is indeed pretty interesting as this would be the first time that a Warhammer 40k game has been set in the 4X/Turn-Based genre. As of now there is no release date or pricing confirmed for the game yet but you can check out the Steam page for the game if you'd like. Slitherine is also offering a Beta Test for the game which you can apply for here but there is a non-disclosure agreement to be adhered to and the selection into the Beta Test is strictly at the discretion of the developers.
