Grinder League 3 Announcement

By Inspector RaGe - 26th January 2017 - 02:41 AM

Greetings comrades, we here at Red3.org and GameReplays are excited to announce:

IPB Image

That's right! Grinder League is back and whilst retaining its rules and element, it's here with a few new changes to spice things up a bit.

Season 3 will feature a new system , which is a ladder rather than retaining the old pyramid tiers. Once more you can compete in The Grinder League by knowing only a few details and referencing your position on the Grinder League season 3 ladder. For the complete set of rules, you should read this entire article or go to the spreadsheet and reference the rules listed there.
The objective of participation in the league is to climb your way to become the Boss and stay the Boss as long as possible. You do this by challenging other participants using the Challenge thread and then tracking your challenge status in the Battle thread.
  • You must register in the Registration thread to be added to the league.
  • You challenge other players in the Challenge thread.
  • Winning a battle awards you the defender's rank and the loser takes yours. Essentially swapping positions.
  • You can attack anyone as far as the same rank #, one tier up.
  • You report the status of your challenge in the Battle thread.
  • You cannot challenge the same player , unless 24 hours have passed since the results were posted.
  • Any single player can only be involved in one battle (attacking or defending) at a time with results, before a new challenge can be requested or accepted.

The top two players in the following 3 categories will be rewarded. The longest BOSS reign, most individual game wins and most total battles. In addition, there will be two random prizes drawn and awarded to anyone who's still registered and participating in the Grinder League at the end of the season.
If you'd like to make a donation to increase the base prize pool of the Grinder League Season 3 you must do so through the appropriate channels. Please contact Inspector RaGe or Constable Chris for more information.
Note: there are more details about the payouts available in the Grinder League Season 3 document. You can read the full details for how prizes are distributed in the rules tab.

You must have the 1.12.5 map pack installed in order to participate in this event

The Grinder League remains a 1v1 league that is built upon challenging other players to a best of X series. There are three steps to participating in the Grinder League.
You first must register in the Registration thread. All players registered before February 1st will be randomly seeded into the first positions and all registrations after that will be added to the bottom rank. A maximum of 40 players can be active in the league at any given time.
The second step is to challenge another member of the Grinder League in an effort to climb the pyramid and become the Boss. An official challenge can be made in the Challenge thread. It must be accepted and played within 72 hours, or the defender forfeits his rank and they swap.
If accepted, the third step is the challenger must immediately create a Battle Report in the Battle thread. After the Challenge has been played the replays should be edited into the Battle Report post.

League members are encouraged to meet in the official lobby "Tournaments 02" or Grinder League Skype Group to organize battles before posting an official challenge in the Challenge thread. If there is particular difficulty in scheduling the match one of the players should message Constable Chris or Inspector RaGe to help schedule a time that will work.
To determine what players you can challenge you should always first refer to the Grinder League Ladder. You can challenge anyone who is your same rank number one tier up. For example if you're a #3 Soldier you can challenge anyone up to the #3 Capo.
If players got bumped up automatically before their own challenge can be completed, they are playing for the new ranks. Every second forfeit will send a player to the back of the line. If you forfeit three times you will be ejected from that season of the league and will have to rejoin next season.
Note: there are more details about the rules available in the Grinder League Season 3 document. If you are unsure about how normal tournaments and competitive events operate consult the rules tab.

Map Pool

For the third season of the Grinder League, we will be featuring 3 sets of maps, one for each month. February will feature 7 custom maps. March's and April's maps will be announced and updated on the 1st of each of those months. The first map will be chosen by standard map elimination, loser picks after that. The defender eliminates the first map. Factions, including random, must be chosen before elimination begins and cannot be changed afterwards. If a player changes faction after map elimination is complete the other player can decide to counter pick, do nothing, or restart the map elimination process. The same map cannot be played twice in any series. Same rule applies to each match.

  • The TAX: Once per reign, the BOSS can start with a 1 point advantage for his BO7 battle, but the challenger picks the first map instead of map elimination.
  • THE TAKE OVER: After holding his ranked position for 96 hours, the #1 Under Boss can officially challenge the Consigliere and the Boss in a 3 man FFA played on Pyroclasm. The 2 losers go to the back of the line respectively. 120 hours (instead of the normal 72) granted for this challenge.
  • THE HIT: After holding their ranked position for 48 hours the #2 or #3 Under Boss can officially challenge the Consigliere.
  • THE BUMP: After holding their position for 48 hours, a #1 rank can specifically challenge the #1 rank two tiers above him (i.e. #1 Soldier can challenge the #1 Under Boss). If the challenger loses they are sent to the back of the line and if the defender loses they swap positions. #1 Capo is the highest rank that can use this rule.
  • THE TEST: If the CONSIGLIERE loses his battle against the BOSS , he will not get sent back to the bottom of the ladder. Instead, he must defend himself against the current #1 UNDERBOSS in an automatic challenge. If the CONSIGLIERE defends successfully , he is allowed to challenge the BOSS again. If the CONSIGLIERE loses his fight against the #1 UNDERBOSS , they will swap places.
