Counter to Double Rax for Sov

hey I dont know if this solution been suggested, but I tried the following on temple prime against a double rax and won easily without any problems:

RAX > 3 bears 1 engie:
PP
REF
NAVAL > 4 stingrays
PP
REF
WF > Sickles

-Ok so the start is pretty normal. Your goal is not really to score a oil derrick, but more to keep your opponent busy with his barracks while you punch out stingrays etc. So first bear to the derrick your barracks is facing away and the other 2 to the near derrick.

Do alot of running around forcing his barracks, usually lots of close running to his barracks will cause pathfinding issues

if your lucky/good you'll score a derrick from your enginner. But thats a bonus

Now here's the real kicker. Put 1 stingray beside your 1st ref and send the next 3 around to his base. the 4th stingray will be beside your 2nd ref.

Your stingrays will arrive at his base when he has started building Tengus, rape them with your stingrays (literally 2 hits they are dead, even with WF,) kill his harvesters and any nodes that show up.

Now the reason for the 2 spare stingrays is that they like I said eat Tengus for breakfast, putting them by your ref is precaution in case he goes on the offense before your stingrays get to his base or they are killed.

your wf should be punching out sickles now.

Good get them over to his base because about now he would have a swarm of tank hunters incoming to kill your stingrays. Hopefully you will have killed his harvesters before they arrive and can retreat back to the sea. If not the sickles will clean up tank hunters (lots of pouncing) while your stingrays will prob need to retreat (easy prey to tank hunters) before killing the last harv.

Punch out bullfrog, load engies and cap the two derricks and kill your opponent.

well the issue with double rax is that it doesnt leave that much of an opening foe early scouting (they havnt deployed their barracks early, and they are focused on taking the derricks and microing their 2nd dojo to kill your bears)

But if he manages to get a scout out:

1. Put 1-2 Flak Troopers in your base. They'll kill burst drones before they see your naval yard

2. If he spots your naval yard: produce the following two items, Bears and Bullfrogs:

Send the Bears through the middle to cut off him sending his tank hunters back to his base to defend it (Tank hunters are the *ONLY* direct tier 1 counter to stingrays) the only other serious threat is him spamming burst drones to kill your stingrays hence send a bullfrog with them (which will also help when he tries to run his Tengus away)


Overall though Tier 1 Soviet Navy/barracks has everything you need to counter tier 1 Empire and 90% of tier 2 (the only thing you need to get tier 2 to counter is Tsunami Tanks)

Soviets are so good against man spam right now. Just mass bears and conscripts until you can get a war factory and then get bears and sickles. tongue.gif

nice counter and the method was also well explained... this whole strat seems to make empire completely useless to me, now we need a counter to this counter biggrin.gif
