iaguz vs Timmeh, decent little SvA

Hey hey peeps.

This is an alright SvA replay which shows a few tricks and potential pitfalls of a tricky map for Comrades everywhere. Things to note:

1) Many Migs only beat many Apollos because of splash, so when they're arrayed in a certain way you WILL lose.
2) Desolator airstrike is your friend.
3) Having the centre isn't necessarily the key to victory (but it helps!)
4) Walls are your friend.
5) Scout, scout, scout! I probably could have pushed a lot harder and earlier if I had better map awareness, but instead I just sat back and... well, I'll let you guys see how it panned out...

It's a bit standoffish, but I blame the Mass Effect for that. Still, it's got a bit of everything.

Enjoy!

I agree, it was a good little game. Quite extraordinary that only one war factory was built and it was in the last five minutes of the game.

I don't know how it's possible for Allies (or Empire for that matter) to hold their water expansion versus a handful of Akulas without spending a lot of money.

Well, if you've got the centre you don't really NEED a water expand, you should take the higher ground expansion and transition to a different tech whilst keeping the pressure on.

Akulas are great little ninjas for a job like that though.

so youd prefer expanding on land then on water ? i think its the other way around...most of the time its a safe choice to go for a ref on water...unless im missing the point

Land is easier to defend then the water expansion (especially if you've got the centre). The water expansion is vulnerable to stuff like Riptides and Akulas, both of which can easily move in and ninja-rape your stuff.

Argh I feel for Timmeh, I hate those god damn dreadnaughts. I really do not know how to counter them as allies as long as the soviets got some akulas, and migs like Iaguz had.

Apollos > MiGs, it shouldn't be too hard to get air superiority if the Sov is also pumping air (so long as you don't bunch and stuff...which is quite hard to avoid so I guess its not that easy) and then use cryos. Remember that MiGs have to reload at some stage, whereas Apollos have vast stashes of ammo, and so the MiGs will give you a rest after a little bit allowing you to mass up some epic Allied air.

Basically, needs cryos. Tbh, if Soviet has akulas and MiGs all massed up then he owns the sea and the air, and you've pretty much already lost.
