Damn I hate Tanya.

Was a close game, I almost made a comeback a couple times, but each time foiled by Tanya. We were both completely out of money by the end.

Well, if soviets failed to rush or over-expand and pressure fast they always lost.

Overresourcing like 4 refineries vs 2 may help (you didn't have that advantage), but even so it doesn't guarantee anything. If opponent gets to Tanya or Shogun, soviets lost anyway.

Soviets don't have any FREE weapon to destroy enemy base, except Sattelate drop, and even for it they need to scout. Instead of surgical strike, time bombs, Empire sleepers and others.
So low resources for both players = soviet is a goner for sure.

And soviets don't have any decisive weapon, like Tanya drop or Shogun.
Means long game = soviet is a goner as a rule.

This game is a good illustration, you resisted bravery, wub it.

By the way, closer to end idle harvesters could be send to crane for $1000. Or send to another Refinery where is no harvester anymore (got killed).
I don't think it would help hovewer.

magsing+sat wiping out armies every 4 mins 92 for mag sing)?

dreadnaughts wtfpwning bases (though admittedly not as fast as shoguns)?

though they may not have many mega base death things going for them, but they're sure as hell not out of options

Well, I guess you just said the same, dreadnaughts are not as good as Shoguns (or Tanya drop too I guess?).
That makes long games mostly lost by soviets.

And on low resources soviets have no options, because there are no money for it. That makes out of resources games always lost by soviets.

I don't play much (I'm too slow with mouse:), but I like to watch,
even have some recent small statistic (about hundred last games)
So, I'd say my conclusions are based on facts.

Soviets really lost like 9 of 10 if failed to rush or very fast overexpand and steamroll.

However, looks soviets do have advantage at early game, just have to use it, and use it fast.
