EaE|LethaL vs JR|Cheguevara

Elves (EaE|LethaL): West
Isengard (JR|CheGuevara): East

Overview:

A nice game in a fun matchup. The game remains even-keeled for a long amount of time, Elves slightly in the advantage but Isengard becoming more and more agressive once hitting Industry. Mirkwoods keep every attack Isengard launches in check and constant Lancer raids keep the number of Furnaces on the map limited. As the game progresses, Ents Summons go up in flames while every Watcher used by Isengard causes considerable collateral damage for the Elves. Lurtz devours one hero after the next and masses of fully upgraded Warg Riders finally wrench the game's control from the Elves. Shortly after Flood hits, Isengard has its dragon flying in for a strike to be followed up with a devastating attack.

Elves - LethaL

Build Order: Tree - Tree - Green Pasture
Power Point Path: Rallying Call - Farsight - Bombadil - Ents - Flood

You showed several moments of nice play this game and had constant expansion going on which gave you a solid economy all the way through. Unfortunately you made a couple of relatively severe mistakes repeatedly which gave a game you were in control of over to your opponent. First: You need to learn to demolish your buildings. Especially in the early phase of the game that's extremely important as the more Power Points you feed your opponent by not demolishing doomed structures the faster he's gonna hit Industry which is always your worst enemy. If you see the building is going to be destroyed, always demolish it unless you need to buy urgently needed time. Another extremely negative side-effect of letting him destroy your structures is that you're leveling his Lurtz who becomes your worst nightmare upon reaching 5/6.
Second: Don't get heroes in the matchup unless you get them early enough to level and make them powerful. If you get them once Lurtz is out and has access to Carnage you're just wasting heroes. In general your hero use this game was shocking to say the least, you were basically asking your opponent to kill off your heroes by running them around in front of Lurtz's nose and fully exposing them every single time. If you do get a hero at least keep him covered at all times. Rather than waste your ressources on the heroes, fully upgrade your fort as the game progresses (which would have prevented losing it, you also easily had enough cash) and get fast upgrades. Based on that you might want to consider changing your upgrade sequence - Heavy Armor as it makes your Lancers durable enough to invade your opponent's core base and makes your infantrie durable enough to serve as significant meatshields in front of your Mirkwoods.
Third: Don't waste your powers, that's what cost you the game. Your Ents Summon will win you the game if you use it wisely. Wisely means not using it when you can't cover the Ents - summoning them next to an upgraded fort twice when you don't have a single unit nearby to cover them against pikes was extremely rash and uncareful. All you needed was to march in your infantrie or create a decent diversion before summoning.
Finally just watch for smaller mistakes with severe repercussions: Failing to kill Lurtz when you had the opportunity, leaving Mirkwoods in range of meleeing units, not spreading out unit clumps against Lurtz's Carnage, etc.

    Tips for Improvement:

  • Demolish your buildings when they're certain to fall. You salvage ressources and prevent him from gaining PowerPoints or leveling his hero that way.
  • Keep your Mirkwoods at a distance from meleeing units and use them to pick off pikes in order to enable your Lancers a clear trample. You were oftentimes targetting Dunlands instead.
  • Don't get heroes in a progressed phase of the game when Lurtz has reached a high level. Especially don't fully expose them every time you get them when you do get them. Rather use the ressources for fast upgrades - Heavy Armor before SilverThorn is my recommendation.
  • Never use game-changing powers recklessly. Wasting two Ents Summons was a pity.
  • Always get upgrades on your fort as the game enters its late phase, especially when you have the income rate and cash count to easily allow you to do so.

Isengard - JR|CheGuevara

Build Order: Furnace - Furnace - Steading - Furnace
Power Point Path: Crebain - Industry - Watcher - Dragon Strike

Good game with solid play by you. You consistently prevented cashfloating and had incessant expansion and rebuilding going on this game. In respect to that: Watch your builders more, you lost numerous builders this game when you could have easily retreated them or Wall Hubbed. Early on, you took a little while to adapt to cavalry, it's worth a consideration retreating the units you can when you see cavalry out, pulling your Urukhai back would have saved you units and ressources. Mid game you could have captured the south-west Inn when creeping the troll, you only got it significantly later when you could have been using it as an additional spamming point during that time. Then there were some smaller though less significant mistakes: a) Idling your Watcher power for quite a while when you had several nice opportunities to use it; b) Revealing the fact that you had Wargs by kamikazeing a single unit - the moment you get cavalry you can wreak havoc with the surprise effect alone if your opponent doesn't see it coming, don't spoil the surprise by suiciding your first unit; and finally c) Try to synchronize attacks a little more - had you been simultaneously going with Warg harassment parties while sending in your infantrie armies you could have seriously reduced his economy, he maintained a flourishing economy most of this game.

    Tips for Improvement:

  • Watch your builders. Stay aware of where they are on the map and retreat them from dangerous spots.
  • Capture the Inn as soon as you have a chance to as it's basically an extra Steading for you on the map.
  • Don't idle powers when you have perfect chances to use them (the second time round you missed a Mirkwood and Lancer army and ended up almost wasting the power).
  • Use the moment of cavalry entering the battle to catch your opponent off-guard, sending a single Warg Rider batt against a vastly superior force spoils the surprise and wastes a unit.
  • Arrange harassment more effectively, fully upgraded Warg Riders are deadly harassment weapons.
