News recently arose over on Team Liquid that the first
StarCraft 2 tournament is now accepting sign-ups of 512 European players wishing to participate.
The ZOTAC
StarCraft 2 Beta Cup will take place this Sunday, beginning at 14:00 GMT+1, with a €100 prize pot! Those who sign up should arrive an hour early to check-in and be entered into the tournament brackets. Just to confirm, 512 people will be allowed to sign-up, but only 256 will be entered into the tournament itself, in an effort to ensure full brackets. We believe the places will be distributed from 13:00 GMT+1 on a first come, first serve basis.
This is particularly exciting news for
StarCraft 2, which despite the relative low profile and prize money of the ZOTAC cup, is showing signs of following on where its successor left of in terms of competitive appeal. A tournament organised within 2 days of the Beta's release is truly a sign of things to come.
So, if you have a free Sunday night, don’t hesitate to sign up and fly the flag for GameReplays.org members, and remember you can discuss your strategies and thoughts on the beta right here. Also, check out our Tournaments and E-Sports forum to discuss the ZOTAC Cup itself. Good luck!
