ServaNt, and I decided to do something to give back to the community. Here is a build order Strategy Guide for TvZ, the
Blue Flame Expand. I am currently in
Team Serious Gaming and I am
ranked at approximately 3,400 points on the European ladder. I have had reasonable success in tournaments both national and international, nothing big yet but not too bad either I suppose. In the following guide, I will describe my most frequent and probably most well known TvZ build for the few people that follow my play in tournaments, instead of seeing me complain on the forums (got a lot of followers here!).
The 1 Factory, Blue Flame Expand with a defensive Banshee
The 2 main ingredients to a safe fast expand and potential harass options are:
- The Hellion to scout and harass.
- The defensive Banshee for map control and poking.
The Blueprint
IntroductionAll right, this is probably my most used build order in TvZ and I have been using it since halfway through the beta with improvements as the game has progressed. I'd say it's pretty stable overall, none of this clown stuff from builds that make no sense which you read now and then on the forums.
The basic idea is to go for a pretty fast expansion that is relatively safe and at the same time allows you to pressure and damage the Zerg player's economy. Depending on the their level of greediness, a very powerful pre-Mutalisk harass style can be employed to equalize drone count to your SCV count and get yourself a huge lead. You will have the fastest possible second Orbital Command, aside from the 1 Barracks into Fast Expansion builds.
