Poita, you didn't sieze the advantage you clearly had.

Spamming air was your best bet... I'd have gone fighters and gunships.

However, once you saw he had T3, you needed to spam cerebus on your two main bases...

You looked as if you completely failed to have an end-game strategy (ie, how you intended to end the game) as well as you failed to observe or properly react to his end-game strategy.

That's why you lost.

I started spamming interceptors at the end but it was over before I had any chance to get a lot of them going.

I was hoping that my transports would've finished him off but they died very quickly.

I don't think gunships would've helped. Unconq was spamming too many interceptors for me to keep up. Cerberus would only help so much. Harbingers come out about even with cerberus so I would've been spending just as much as Unconq except I would have to spread the cerberus out whereas his harbs can just go anywhere and destroy my economy, evening up the game. If he didn't go straight for my commander he could've just went to each of my outer mass spots and wiped out my economy. That's how tier 3 siege bots work. Map control goes out the window.

I was expecting to die in that initial harb raid but my commander completely refused to overcharge any of them (this bug needs fixing).

Once I saw he was going tier 3 I HAD to go tier 3 too. Had I not he would've just walked all over my outer eco and it would be an even game again. My end game strategy was to finish his commander by waltzing loyalists into his base. Unfortunately this didn't work because my commander just wouldn't overcharge and died. Had I survived that initial raid I think I might of won.

Thanks for all the replies people.

I think the easiest solution to the problem here would be to make the factory upgrade for T3 about equal to the commander upgrade for T3. In other words make it cost an awful fortune. The T3 land and air units are good enough that people would still go for T3 in a longer game, but it would increase the worth of T2 by leaps and bounds.

You're right.

HOWEVER, that's why you should have gone air once you had map control... 'cause no matter where he attacks air can follow, and that's something you need to consider.

Additionally, you only teched when you saw he had already teched. That's a huge issue. You seemed to just sort of loiter around for awhile and you were floating tons of mass you could ahve been using to put a full fledged attack into place.

by letting him sit there and do whatever he wanted you were essentially handing him a few cards he could play.... and he picked the right one.

If nothing else you should ahve at least scoutted. Those gunships would have been a nice attempt to comm snipe IF they had been T2. Beleive it or not, T1 gunships suck balls after early game.

you also should have used thos transports to drop some engies in places where they could build fire bases. Fire bases work well agaisnt ints too ya know.

The point is you should have had you head in the game and you clearly didn't. Your play was skillful, but it clearly lacked any sort of forethought.

Like I said, I did try to go air. It's very easy to say these things in hindsight. I saw his commander with less than 1k hitpoints so I thought a transport gunship assassination would've been good. It almost was but he jsut had too many ints.

I admit I did tech a little late. I was too focussed on continuing my push.

btw, tier 1 gunships > tier 2 gunships. Double the damage, same hitpoints/cost. For com assassinations it doesn't matter whether you can target them or not. Not to mention upgrading my air fac to tier 2 would've just put me further behind. It's alright to say "just build tier 2 gunships" but he had lots of interceptors and I had to attack quick.

I should've just waited until I had more gunships and teched up quicker. Some PDs to protect my com would've been good but I shouldn't of needed them if OC worked.

Have you not heard of overcharge.....

A commander can easily ninja 6 tier 3 bots by itself.

Now if overcharge glitched then blaim the bugs

I've never see a commander ninja 6 T3 bots.
hey, I don't think he can win 2 if they are being microed.

haha, I accidently posted the reply for this reply in another thread.

Like the damage these transports were doing.
Personally I would set an interceptor or two to patrol is base first(will take years to win the skies back) and than do even more damage with the transports.
Also, I think that the transports became a waste of resources at one point, if you dont rule the skies hard better use them for drops at annoying locations.

Rushing harder for T3 should have won the game once you got ur early game advantage. I think one should always go as fast as possible for T3 unless you can obviously win without it or about to lose a lot of ground or the whole game.

gg btw biggrin.gif

Yeah I should've went more interceptors in hindsight. The only reason I kept going transports was because I thought I might be able to finish his commander.

I have to remember to get to tier 3 sooner. I always seem to be the last to get there these days post-13661-1143531603.gif
