I made some mistakes early on and they came back to haunt me! But if luck would have shined the other way, the ending could have been different!

A review would be nice anyway, since the admins don't seem to have too much to do lately! biggrin.gif

I'm writing this as an application review.

RedFury vs Aelius

RedFury

- You expanded really slowly. On Open Palms, getting those mexes on the sides is very important
+ 3:40 Your hunters destroyed his thanks to your micro
- Your air factory and one of your land factories were idle for a good amount of time
- 5:00 You have lots of power, but no mass
+ 5:45 You attack several of your opponents mexes
+ 6:11 Your first air scout reaches your opponents base, and survives for 4-5 minutes
+ 7:52 You reached T2 before your opponent, but...
- You have 7 idle engineers
+ 9:57 finally some mass fabs to use your excess energy
+ 10:00 T2 Power and Radar
- 11:34 You upgrade your T3 landfactory, but you don't have many resources. Seems like a mistake, especially with the massive mass stall.
+12:35 You successfully push back his attack
+ ~16:00 You win

Overview: You managed to keep your opponent occupied, but didn't take advantage of it and expand. You scouted his base but didn't use your air superiority, and your economy problems didn't help. Luckily, your opponent didn't try to match your T3 production and lost for that reason.

Aelius

+ Good starting BO
- 3:00 You wasted your hunters by sending them 1 at a time into Redfury's LABs
+5:35 mass fabs to make up for your extra energy
-6:30 Your unprotected engineer and mexes were destroyed
-Your opponent has scouted, but you didn't even try
-8:10 Lots of idle stuff... your comm, half of your engineers, and a landfact were all waiting patiently for something to do
+8:45 Good mex raid
-10:40 Still no scouting
-12:30 "Oops, I guess he has rhinos left. My hunters can handle 'em" frusty.gif
+14:00 Good viper-sniping
-14:38 Oops, he has Loyalists now! frusty.gif
-15:45 Most of your exterior mexes have been destroyed
-~16:00 You don't even bother to retreat your ACU, and lose.

Overview: You had a potentially good start, but wasted it with your idle units and unmicroed hunters. You could have won anyway with your map control, but failed to use your extra resources (another T2 factory would have been great). A lack of scouting hurt you repeatedly, and not responding to your opponents strategies ended the game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I rate this replay a 5. Both players knew what to do, but couldn't quite pull it off, and both failed to recover from mex raids or respond to their opponent's weaknesses. Not a particularly interesting replay for recreational purposes, but it does show what both players could do to improve.

Thanks mate...
You are right .. i still don't know how to balance my energy and mass production, if i do mass too soon, I hit an energy stall. And having no energy is even worse, since mass income suffers too if you don't have enough energy to collect it. So I usually make energy my priority and add mass as needed (read: when I realize that I still don't have any massfabs wink.gif )
At the beginning I focused on micro management of my attack force and forgot to expand! At least my "scouts" have done their job and set us about even.
The fast tech 3 was to counter his mobile TMLs, and it worked! biggrin.gif I still don't get why people build mtmls if they see cybran t3 bots appear. It's like sending them into suicide ... although in this replay my bots get hit more often then I thought was possible! Looks like the redirection beam doesn't work if he's facing the other way, or when too many rockets appear at the same time. But I also learned that they will redirect a rocket not aimed at them, but just flying by close enough!

Thanks for the review, it does seem like the official reviewers are already retired, or on a really long holiday! biggrin.gif
