wolfman101 (UEF) vs Phoenician (Aeon) Finn's Revenge

Including a sneak hit and run attack with my comm to destroy his first t3 land factory when I notice his com out of his base. Constant harrassment keeps tech level low for most of the game. My final attack at 40 minutes is the only one I mount with t3 units, though Phoenecian gets to t3 around 30 minutes in. The most fun game I have played so far.

From the outset, both players expand well, with Phoenician quickly taking the outer islands. Excellent early harrassment with the arty by Wolfman. When he made his 1st T2 plant, Phoenix didn't even grab some T2 engi's, moved straight into T3, poor move. Also slow to replace lost mex's.

Neither team used radar stations at all, but Wolf made good use of the intel available to him to raid Phoenician's weak spots.

Excellent use of ACU OC by Wolf, absolutely fantastic, even sweeter considering that for the few moments Phoen had the T3 factory, he didn't build any engineers: back to T1 you go, young man!

Good use of transports by Wolf, nice tactics with the attempts at establishing beach-heads. A little more backup for your little engi's or simply not trying to bring your front line so close to his and those little plans may have worked.

Beyond the half hour mark and there're very few T2 econ buildings, and hardly any T3's - both teams unwilling to put a lot of cash towards the future of their armies.

Very little thought put towards the adjacency bonuses come the T2 mex's. Granted, this is best for T3, but if you can easily generate +24 extra mass at T2 in Finn's Revenge from well placed mass storage, wouldn't you take it?

Great placement of the tac missiles at the end by Wolf.

Good game, I can tell you're both experienced and talented players. There was lacking intel gathering on both sides, but both made excellent tactical choices with what you had, Phoenician making full use of the Harbingers he managed to squeeze out. Too bad the T3 bots were his only saving grace. Throughout the beta, a lot of emphasis was put on air defenses, but it was lacking on both sides - not that Wolf needed much, he had ample control of the skies.

All in all, well played - it's the best I've seen from the full release of the game thus far.

I've been frantically watching all the retail replays on GR in an effort to better myself, and this has been the best I've seen so far... I'm totally new, so I can't really critique properly, but I thought your build order and land factory placement was genius, after initially baffling me.

Look forward to seeing more of your games!

Thanks for the favorable review.

I admit to the whole not putting storage next to MEXs. I usually forget that finns isnt as mass heavy as other maps, where I am usually safe never building any storage, but you really need them on Finns to keep your economy expanding.

I should have used a radar station in my base to look out to the sea for sneak aurora attacks, but my land attacks kept me informed of any land based movement and what he was planning in the air. And you missed that Phoenician actually had a radar station in his base for about 15 minutes, before I destroyed it.

With air defenses, I would have worried more if he had been attacking me with air units, but he never even built interceptors to shoot down my bombers. I saw him reach T3 air near the end, and that had me worried a bit, but I was already nearly finished with my gunship force, and I knew he didnt have much AA in his base.

I am not sure what I was thinking trying to build a base outside his. You could tell when I realized it was a dumb idea when I moved my comm out of there.

I am suprised that you didn't spot my 2 idle t2 facs. Though I don't blame you. I wasnt sure how long they were idle, but it was probably at least a minute or two.

Watching the replay I think Phoenicians main failing was letting the attack with his first harbringers get spread out allowing me to take it on piecemeal. That could have done some damage.

Thanks for the review again.

Thanks for the favorable review as well, and thanks for posting this-- it was a very fun game. I actually never played beta, so I'm learning as I go along here. To be honest, my main failing was not anticipating the lobo drop on top of the mountain and the submerged commander sticking around for so long. Those two attacks flustered me and put me off my best game-- rush to T3 was my backup plan. Great game, though -- I'm looking forward to a rematch smile.gif.
