Singing a new tune

I hadn't realized just how bad comrushing could be until this game. My opponent wastes more mass than I ever collect, leaves his commander exposed for minutes on end, and then to top it all off walks away from my ACU when he has only 9% health and lives to tell about it.

More than anything else, I just love how my commander stops to shoot a mobile AA even though he's been ordered to attack the enemy commander. Nice. Above and beyond that, is the UEF ACU faster than the Cybran one? He comes into weapon range and then walks away, apparently outrunning my com in a straight line.

I would also appreciate it if units didn't shoot things that were marked for capture. post-13661-1143531603.gif

Also, I know my build order sucks, but is the top of Finn's just worse or what?

Cool watch.
Firstly, you should learn the stationary build range of your commi. If you dont manually tell him to stop moving (S) and give a build order, he will always walk straight up the target location (like he did with your first mex).

Both the upper and lower start position offer a location from where you can build 2 MEX + 2 Power + 1 factory without moving.

Secondly, you should scout more tongue.gif
You could have seen when his commi icon stopped moving. You send your mantis just seconds to late, they arrived IMMEDIATLY after his PD was ready. Fatal error wink.gif
Lastly, you should have an advantage. The time he needs to walk over 75 % of the map, you can use to grow up your eco.
In addition, you should build a bunch of mobile AA, they kick ass and are vastly superior to UEF mobile aa for example.

To sum it up, you made a bunch of critical mistakes. On the other side, the tactic of your opponent was pretty sick i guess biggrin.gif

Hey dreamcast i watched your replay like 3 times and i still don't understand why and/or yur comm blew up and secondly yur comm stopped chasing the enemy's comm becuase it got out of range into the fog of war so yur comm couldnt see it cause UEF and Aeon comms run faster then Cybran tongue.gif

I've known the first point for a long time. That's mainly just inexperience on my part shining through.

The last one I think is kind of a sticking point. His ACU could crush any engineers and/or troops I sent to the right side, while his troops overran the left side unopposed (since I had to fight his ACU). Also noted in this replay, which came as a huge shock to me, is that stopping an ACU with another ACU is not actually worthwhile, since he'll just run back into his stream of reinforcements until you have to break off, then turn around and resume his attack.

That was a self-destruct. After the first few minutes my only plan was to try and trap his com on my side and blow it up (which is why I was trying to build frigates in the lake). I thought I had him too, when my commander got in range of his commander and he was well below 2,000 hp (i.e. would have been dead if he wasn't UEF). However, he just walked away without any trouble at all. I was so frustrated that I just blew my com rather than go on.

Not a wise thing to do, since it was a ranked match. I was not happy at the time though.

I'm well aware of that, but keep in mind, I was pissed at the time. I had him beat. He had a whopping 1,700 hp against my ACU's 9,000 and he was on my side, with my ACU pretty much between him and his base. Then he walks away while my ACU repeatedly misses shots, stops to shoot mobile AA, and eventually is just outrun. Beautiful. I was not happy.

Control K self destructs by the way.

when chasing a commander, or any unit for that matter, don't click on the unit but rather click beyond the unit and just run in the same direction as him. When any unit gets in range to fire the first thing they do is stop moving at fire at maximum range. 9 times out of 10 this is exactly what they should do, but not when chasing a fleeing unit. Also, you might be able to press 'I' and force your units to guard him, which should make them follow him pretty closely. Not sure if that works with land units as I just now thought of it, but I know it works with scout planes to have it just hover above an enemy unit and follow it around.
