Supreme Commander

[R] TNT104 vs SlickJackson [3220]

This was a pretty fun game. Due to my commander walking around a lot, he got mantis bots out way faster than I could get troops out, and was able to harass me for a bit. Later on my hunters and mantis bots were able to counter his harassment and start harassing him. He sent his comm up and built a base near mine, which was the center of most combat. Troop numbers never got to big because both of our commanders were busy in combat and weren't building factories - and my engineers were working on a special surprize that ended the game quickly.

Watch, review (please), enjoy. Oh, and woot, no Aeon, lol. tongue.gif

Cool game.

I've noticed a lot of players get too involved with their ACUs and neglect their base/economy. You made him pay for that mistake. thumb.gif

I like SlickJackson's early aggression. That kind of aggression can win games. He nearly gained total map control in the beginning with his quick aggresive stance and gain a huge economy lead. Unfortunately, he didn't utilize the purpose of map control, and that is to reap the resources. He wasted over 5,000 mass.

TNT wasn't as aggressive. But he had extremely good control over his economy. He only wasted 8 mass in the entire game. But I have seen a few times where you left your flanks exposed and you paid dearly for it. I've seen alot of medusas and some mex's destroyed because of it.

Overall, pretty enjoyable. smile.gif

Yeah, my recon was not so good and it was my first 1v1 of the day. I COULD have had complete any total air recon, but I didn't want to give away my bomber buildup and/or cause him to make interceptors/aa. My right flank was pretty unprotected but I relied upon him being too distracted to take advantage- it worked. By that point I had so many bombers I knew i'd be able to wipe out his economy anyway. I was just buying time.

If my bomber rush had failed, i'd have raced to T2 with my engineer assisted factory and tac missiled him into the stone age, followed by vipers to mop up his forces (if I didnt get his comm with the TML).

+ Nice raiding, you were lucky you had your engineers so late because he had hunters outside your base.
+ Not too sure about mass farming on this map, but i guess it worked out biggrin.gif

- Messed up your opening. Unlike your usual BO, you should do your land fac before your second MEX because of the maps layout.
- Bad scouting. Keep 1:3 or 1:4 mole:mantis queues.
- Should have used your commi to take out his forward base with only 1 PD, instead of using him to build.
- You shouldnt bother using air when playing Cybran vs Cybran. Cybran are the worst, cost/effiency wise, while cybran mobile AA is the best. Probably a lot more mantis would have been better, or T2 ground for mobile launchers.

+ Nice raiding / trying to raid. Unfortunally your enemy had a slow opening build, somehow negating your raid (no engineers to pick off). At least you got one smile.gif

- Screwed your opening, not utilizing the commanders maximum build range.
- Your base was WAY to forward and therefor way, WAY too risky. In addition, you neglected the more different parts of the map. Lost 2 engineers and your MEX were unprotected due to only 1 factory.
- Having no radar coverage for your forward base was just stupid tongue.gif
- Had map control and a big mass float. Make factories, dude tongue.gif

Conclusion

Interesting try by Jackson, but probably doomed to fail. Base was much too forward and proper scouting would have made his try even more useless. All in all, rather weak game if i may say so. Interesting, but weak played.

Things to be noted:

- Should not use bombers when playing cybran vs cybran.

RATED AS: 3.4/10, rounded down.

1. Yeah, I admittedly messed that up. Usually I use feniam's kickass BO for this map.
2. I HAD scouts in my queues, but they got worked out due to reshuffling. I should have had more. Also, I had pretty consistant LoS recon on his base, and I knew he wasn't going anywhere. I was concentrating on the bomber buildup.
3. If I had done that, he probably would have given up and chased down my comm. I wasn't sure my comm would be able to survive it, so I held back. Also, I knew that he would have far less factories than me, and I wanted to push that advantage.
4. Why not? They expel their damage instantly (unlike UEF bombers), and it was cheaper than going to T2 for a TML. I DID wipe out his entire economy with them. How else was I going to do that? Also, I went into the game thinking "i'm going to utilize bombers somehow".

5. Cybran Mobile AA is hax, I agree, but he had under 5 factories. I knew I could take out his factories in his rear before he could react, which I did, and I was free to destroy his economy. My plan worked, why give me a - for that?

heya,

firstly, dont be offended. On to the points.

1. deal.
2. Wether you had them in your queues or not doesnt matter. What DOES matter is that you missed him building that forward base. And it takes ages to setup walls, a PD and a factory, all the time you not noticing it. I agree it was partly bad luck, with your mantis only very slightly missing it.
3. Probably yes. But he had only one factory at the back of the map, while you had like 2 or 3 near the front. If would have aided you a lot more.
4. Because cybran bombers suck. In addition, i dont think they wiped his eco. You were looking to hit a bunch of pogens, but instead you were forced to attack single MEX and a hydroplant, not that much. By the time you discovered his energy-farms the game was already over.
5. the - is basicly because there was a smarter way to catch that game. It worked out, NP, but i dont think Unconq or Eshez would fall for that.

Of course reviewing is a purely subjective matter.

EDIT: Feel free to counter-critizise my just posted replay ! smile.gif
