What i tend to do on WD if my initial scout doesn't pick up stuff on 'their' hill i walk my commander to the slope of it and build a couple of turrets there (the commander can do this from below). they almost always kill a mex/engineer and he will either have to send in the commander to take it out, costing him precious comm HP or lose a bunch of units to it.

Artillery pretty much defeats this, but usually it does some damage.

hehe, thats a cool idea, i've got to try that.

One other thing I forgot to mention - you built engineering pods, but didn't make much use of them, other than to assist a factory. I think they are quite good for reclaiming salvage over the battlefield, especially if your opponent doesn't have any mobile AA. They don't have to collect much to pay for themselves, they are very hard to spot, and if you have control over the air, as you did for much of the game, they are unlikely to get shot down.

good thinking... near the end it was a desperate struggle to survive and tbh i couldnt afford the micro they involve (the second they arent doing anything they return to the comm if he is issued an order, and i was microing him like crazy). as it turns out kamikaze t1 engineers got the job done, but i probably should have made better use of them.

I'd give this about a 4.5 maybe 5 overall, since both players did make some big mistakes (the t1 pd for TNT for example).

Both players seemed slow in getting some air units, which I think could have made the game so much different. You both seemed so focused on building land units you forgot about air factories.

Still, it was fun to watch, and it was am impressive comeback. Well done.

I wouldn't be so quick to call the four PDs a failure. They deterred the enemy from attacking along that avenue for quite a long time, forcing the enemy to built a T2 PD to counter them.

Nice use of a tactical air scout by Broken for artillery spotting. TNT should have sent his interceptors out to kill it. That thing was loitering for far too long, giving Broken prime intel of what TNT was doing.

TNT should have stopped messing with T1 turrets ASAP and built a couple T2 turrets.

TNT should have used overcharge on any harbs that got near him.

Good work by TNT leveraging his interceptor advantage to quickly produce several bombers.

Bombing the T3 factory wasn't a totally useless endeavor either - Broken's T3 factory was effectively shut down for a few minutes, and many engineers nearby killed.

Nice move by Broken shielding that T3 factory. Without that it probably would have fallen.

Broken plays it right by advancing and securing territory outside of TNT's base, and know's that trying to zerg that defensive line would be futile. You can't fault him for having his commander on the frontline, he just didn't anticipate being the target of a cruise missile assassination smile.gif

8/10.
Entertaining, and hands down the best example of 1vs1 positional warfare strategy I've seen posted in a while. Skillful tactics displayed, with a wide mix of unit types used to their potential.
Everyone makes mistakes. They are inevitable against smart players who can adapt and overcome your strategies. It's how you overcome those mistakes or how your opponent exploits them that makes for interesting strategy.

Thanks smile.gif

Just to add- he had t2 far before i did (which was probably my biggest screwup in the game, as a result of not having enough engineers in my initial BO) which resulted in him taking the hill. Also, I was OC'ing harbs near the end, but i eventually had to pull back my comm because of the enemy turrest in the area and his low HP.

DO NOT launch 2 tactical missiles at the same time. The explosion from the first missile to reach the comm will destroy the second. I had this happen twice before I realized what was going on.

Idd, will be fixed in coming patch but since that won't be out anytime soon it's best to keep this bug in mind.

Great game, I really didn't think a comeback was possible. smile.gif
