Hahaha, Petraque posted this just minutes before you. Must be a really good game.

It was pretty clear petraque was going to win, Bhaal didn't seem to have a solid strategy past a certain point.

I'm amazed how many people can't learn the simple truth - if you have no mass, sending more engineers won't make it build faster, especially when you're at -500 mass/tick.

He could have built the nuke before petraque got the defense off and end the game right then and there, but due to very poor econ management, he didn't.

I probably wouldn't use the word "good". Not "bad" either. Perhaps "boring" is a fitting word. The first half of the game has the usual meatgrinding of units against each other, with the usual soul ripper.

The second half degenerates into a mexican standoff where none of the players seem to really have any kind of plan but they after a long, long wait finally start getting nukes. Good thing only one of the players figured out it was a good thing to build a nuke defense covering their commander or I suspect it would've gone on for another hour or two.

Aside from not building nuke defense when it was obvious the game had gone into the nuclear stage, no huge mistakes were made despite the lack of entertainment for the rest of us. I myself would've probably started building some T3 artillery when it became obvious the game had degenerated into a standoff and smoke the opposing side out. But please don't take advice from me, I suck. happy.gif

T3 arty is only really a good idea if you're UEF. Soul Rippers (or MLs or Scathi or any combination) are much better if you're Cybran and anything is better if you're Aeon, because their T3 arty is just terrible.

I thought it was an entertaining game. Early on the maneuvering by each team was fairly interesting, and the regenerating SCU attack vs Petraque's tricked-out ACU was exciting.

Later in the game Bhaal's biggest problem - other than the obvious - seemed to be running out of ideas after Petraque actually countered his Soul Rippers with gunships. Monkeylords or Scathi might have been more productive than the nuke.

I've had some success with it as cybran (And UEF obviously), though I must admit I don't play Aeon at all and you may be right that artillery is useless for them. I agree that SRs do a very good job though but given good intel, rows of T3 sam sites, and gunships (Especially UEF T3 gunships), their effect is somewhat reduced and while groups of them can still get through, the end result might not be more cost effective than alternative strategies.

Parts of the game was entertaining. But in the second half of the game, both players seemed unsure of what to do. What eventually gave Petraque the victory was a nuke he started building but then stopped and (In the wise decision to favour nuke defense but then) forgot about for a long, long time. And Bhaal as you said, didn't really have much of a plan either.

I don't think MLs would've had great effect here. The combination of petraque's good intel, gunships and strategic bombers would've killed it off before it got close enough. Scathi... Maybe. But that's still artillery. happy.gif

LOL I never run out of Ideas. I had a friend sitting next to me and was teaching him how to play supcom, I showed him some shiny fights moved the cam etc. and so I forgot my antinuke which was my only mistake in lategame. I know my early game needs work.

Mainly I was just wondering why you kept building Soul Rippers after Petraque managed to defend against the first few so effectively. Other than the nuke that seemed like all you were really putting your resources towards.

Also I forgot to point out before, but Petraque managed his strategic bombers really poorly. He let them trickle in in separate groups instead of massing them. If they'd all been together he might have won with his first try at an ACU snipe.

I am wondering what you would have done instead if you were me.

I have no idea. No need to be defensive. I was just curious.
