Whatever disparaging remarks I made towards the automatch thingy in the past I have to give it credit. It didn't fukup this time.

I was up against an op that I played before, and had beaten. He tried much, much harder this time. I was squished into my side of the map. Hurray for massfabs.

I also had to resort to T2 PD. Thank god Triads don't suck anymore. I had my commander in the red several times...

I think this is a pretty standard game, albeit with my typical spam of PD.

I liked this game a lot. As you already said, its your typical PD-building-frenzy, at least partly. But very enjoyable watch with mobile shields etc,
I felt kind of sorry for your enemy who had NO T2 mex at all.
End game you had 71 mass, he had 11 or 13.

Tbh I did not play well in this game. I still played in a kind of pre-patch style, where (in this map) no T2 mex nor fab farm were usually needed, because as there was always mass T1 fighting, reclaiming would do fine and the game would be over quickly. It takes some time to adjust to the new patch.

As a side, note, this game took 2.5 hours to play, but was 30 minutes long... Connection it was go-stop-go the whole time.

Ya - massfabs are pretty much the way to go. I didn't realize it right away and went ahead of upgraded all my mexes instead. I now realize that was the least-mass efficient way to go - I should have started with the fabs, and finished with power generators. I was awfully busy trying to prevent oblivion creep too. I was actually more afraid of a TML somewhere initially.

I think I can critique the match, starting with blunders first...

For me

- Not enough early harassment, mm's fell too easily to auroras, needed larger groups of mm's I think
- I upgraded mexes instead of first building fabs. I built fabs as an afterthought
- Didn't get T2 quite as fast as I could have
- left the lower right wall undefended (mainly because I rarely saw enemies there)
- Didn't get T3 as fast as I could have
- had fewer land factories building T1 for the first 5 or 10 minutes it seemed
- didn't make enough use of engineers assisting T1 factories, which is probably why I couldn't push effectively
- didn't put the T2 arty is the best spot, it shoud have been closer to the ridge where it would get a bit more cover and possibly hit his base
- needed to make better use of mobile shields

As a plus I would say

+ I seemed to make the right choices in upgrade paths, and with decent timing for the most part
+ good use of commander as a defensive weapon
+ used a wall (yes, not much of a wall but it's still more than you see in most games)

For letsrock I think these were the faults

- Had a T1 advantage, but didn't back it off in favor of T2 or T3 once I put up PDs, opting to throw too many units at PD (I had a triad with over 50 kills...)
- no economic upgrading (probably the biggest one) despite initial economic advantage
- would have been able to really screw me with a T2 arty or a TML, but didn't even try that route (though I did put up alot of TMDs just in case...)
- didn't protect radar enough, I kept hitting it
- needed better oblivion placement I think, the first one was too easy to hide from using the ridge
- didn't use air. I was suceptible to air
- should have tried reclaiming my wall at the lower right to harrass via that path

He did some things well too:

+ pushed early, hard, used commander
+ more t1 factories
+ good attempts to get around defenses to harass my main base
+ Used mobile shields, which is good, but I think they were thrown against defenses a bit too much
