When this [custom] game was done I checked the guy's profile because I was curious. I couldn't believe it when it said he was ranked 46th. I wouldn't have ever expected to beat someone with such a high rank, especially since I couldn't get my ACU to stop walking around during the initial build, but I guess anything is possible.
I was playing custom simply to try out the PD drop strat, which you'll see somewhere around 12 minutes or so. It didn't even work out that well because I neglected to take into account I hadn't dropped them on rugged terrain, so he countered it relatively easily. Had I actually used my head a little I would have built the T1 PD first to keep T1 spam at bay. In the end, I'm not even sure what blew up the T2 thing; I did see any TMLs nearby yet it just sort of exploded for no reason that I could see.
Oh well. Across the map Barbie had other things to worry about.
Let me guess, you didn't watch this one either before commenting? As far as I can see, he was trying nothing new, unless building a crapload of T1 factories to spam is a new strat... D:
He is just no good player. I faced him several times in beta and in release and every time he screwed up. I remember i was thinking "how the hell can this guy be top 100" several times.
Maybe he's just massed a lot of matches against low ranked players and gradually boosted his rating. It was 2150 last I checked which should mean he's quite skilled, yet that seems not to be the case.
