Haha, I knew you'd post it the second I said that.

Awesome review though, some good and valid points there. Thanks!

Excellent game - I thought both players played very well, though poita was definatly more creative, angryZealot has pretty much only one plan in this game (build more units). He does this very well.

I think that both players could have done with using a small number of PD to help gain control of the mass in the two corners. This could have secured a significant advantage. Az should definatly have done this in the top left.

AngryZealot should have built a small number of AA units and scattered them around the map, to help deal with the transport gunships, and assist his interceptors.

I think that AngryZ had quite a few occasions when he lost more auroras than he should have, especially in the top left, due to lack of radar; the aurora has a longer range than a mantis, but a lot less health, so it is critical to make use of the range advantage.

Because this map is so open, it is a very good map for air to pick-off ground units which lack AA support; I am surprised no players bothered to get T2 air, until the very end, and little use was made of T1 bombers.

On this map it is worth building a T2 artillary in the middle; they can reach quite a lot of the map, restricting movement out/into the corners.

At one point Poita had a mantis with veteran 4, which I thought was pretty awesome biggrin.gif

Wow, I had no idea. That's 50 kills for one mantis! Crazy stuff.

Transport gunships >>> Tier 2 gunships btw wink.gif That's not an opinion either. I should've just used transport gunships for the assassination.

Transport gunship is much more vulnurable to ground AA, doesn't dodge much, doesn't auto repair/refuel and is more fiddly to make.

It does inflict quite a lot more damage (twice as much), and is a little cheaper...hmmm.. but it has no AoE.. is pretty close.. I'd probably go with the gunships myself, just for less fiddling loading units, and the ability to use a repair pad to keep them coming back.

Probably transport gunship is better against someone with no serious AA, just cos of the heavy damage.

One thing you have to realize is that transport gunships are way more effective because they do a great deal more damage than t2 gunships. It doesn't matter if they are more vulnerable to AA, can't dodge or aim because gunships and transports aren't going to last very long anyway, so we really shouldn't even pay attention to those differences. The fact is that transports + light bots are way more effective at killing everything, which counts for so much more. Not to mention that transports + bots are available from the start, where t2 has to be reached for gunships and even then they are really only effective en masse.

Actually I did realise that, as I mention above. They do 120 DPS, compared to a gunship's 60 DPS (with 3 AoE), for cybran. However, they have 2/3 the hitpoints, don't dodge AA, take two factories to build, miss moving targets, don't track targets, and take a lot of micro.

I'm not saying they aren't good, whilst you are still T1. I'm just saying that at T2, I'd rather use regular gunships tongue.gif

The only 2 problems with transport gunships are the following:

1. Cannot assign a target to attack.
2. Take more micro.

Usually the transport will attack what you want it to though.

Thanks Poita_, for some reason, I am really like playing as Cybran, so I am really really happy biggrin.gif when I see somebody representing for all of us Cybran players out there.

One thing I noticed, really nobody had much of any AA at the beginning, so maybe you could have used SkyHunters sooner and gotten a lot better Kill Death Ratio in some of the bigger all ground battles.
