How to get owned on Sytris (3223)

I was not happy with this one. For starters, I came up against Der_Morten back in 3220. Although back then, we were on Artic Refuge, a map I'm at least semi-familiar with. This time we were on Sytris, a map I've never actually played on before.

I wanted to go for a flare gunship early on, but he already had an air fac and, above and beyond that, had easy access to sky slammers. When I saw his transport I assumed he was also building towards a T1 gunship, although he had much more intelligent uses in mind.

Really not much to see here beyond the first couple of minutes, by 5:00 Der_morten has it in the bag. I wonder though, if I ever come up on this map again, should I be doing what Der_Morten did here, or is there a better start on this map?

Well, I wouldn't ever try a T1 gunship against Cybran. A mass of their mobile AA will probably make short work of that and then you'll be behind in the land battle.

Your only real mistake that I saw was that you let the guy take control of the map, so in that vein it wasn't as much of a mistake as much as it was you just got outplayed. Transporting engineers to mass-heavy spots is pretty smart; not sure what you could have done to counter that. You would have to see it coming and either do it first or have interceptors ready to take out the transports.

When my air scout saw his transport I sent an Int over to try and destroy it, but it had moved away by that point (when I saw it I thought he was also trying the gunship).

But yeah, that's really my question. Should I automatically go for transports right away if I come up on this map again? Should I just pump out some Ints early on and go patrolling around empty mass spots? If he weren't Cybran I could have put ints on patrol over his base right away, but Sky Slammers will own them in about a second.
