I knew this might be the match to determine wether I'll be rnaked 1st or not smile.gif

I was somewhat happy to get matched with this guy, I knew he has some points and I didn't thought he's too strong. Obviously, I was wrong ohmy.gif

I think this is a decent one(silver? smilie_naughty.gif )

feedback appreciated.

I'm gonna review this one because I love telling Eshez how much of a noob he is.

Then I guess you shouldn't review this because I've made zero mistakes sad.gif

jk, I really need some tips, I think that my early game could have been much better.

v3223

Eshez IPB Image vs IPB Image InsideTheOut

Game Summary:

Pretty typical starts by both players with both going for a land, land, air opening. As usual the top player (InsideTheOut) moves his ACU to the left to secure the second mass cluster. Eshez pushes up to the same spot but has to decline when he encounters InsideTheOut's ACU and PD. Both players also expand to the south east, building support factories along the way. Eshez has a slight air advantage early on but quickly loses it to InsideTheOut who has 5 engineers assisting his air factory. Both players stall on energy for a minute or two but continue fighting nonetheless.

InsideTheOut controls the skies and Eshez controls the sea with a couple of subs patrolling the waters. InsideTheOut has several bombers in the air but only uses them defensively despite Eshez's lack of AA. Eshez slowly techs up his naval yard with 1 engineer assisting while very quickly teching up to tier 3 on land, arriving slightly sooner than InsideTheOut. Harbinger battles begin just outside of Eshez's base with neither player making much progress on land. On the south-east half of the map both players are still throwing auroras at each other with a little bit of back and forth.

Eventually Eshez reaches tier 3 and gets a destroyer out. He manages to cause some damage to InsideTheOut's outer mass extractors but nothing overly significant. The destroyer soon gets destroyed (pardon the pun) by InsideTheOut's bombers and Eshez begins work on a Cruiser.

On land things are still quite even in terms of Harbinger battles but Eshez manages to get the upperhand by reclaiming the wreckages of dead Harbingers. Eshez sends a couple of Harbingers across the south side of the island causing InsideTheOut to bring his Harbingers army down too. Eshez then moves up and around to InsideTheOut's main base to find his commander. Meanwhile Eshez's cruiser is ripping apart InsideTheOut's air force and before long InsideTheOut's commander falls to the hands of Eshez's Harbingers.

Eshez

Things you did well:
  • You went for a naval yard pretty early, which gave you the sea.
  • Reclaiming the dead Harbingers gave you a crazy boost to your economy. I'd say on average you were bringing in about twice the mass you would have without reclaiming. If anyone watching should learn anything from this game it should be this.
  • Your play was pretty solid throughout as usual. Good control of your economy in the late game.

Things you could improve on:
  • I told you this last time but you still need to build more power generators early on this map. Lots of mass, no hydrocarbon plants, so you have to put a lot of effort into power. 2 or 3 engineers right from the start constantly building. You stalled on energy for a little while near the beginning with as much as -100 energy income.
  • More emphasis on interceptors, especially later in the game. Just pile the engineers on whenever you see floating energy. The mass cost of interceptors is negligible.

InsideTheOut

Things you did well:
  • Excellent interceptor spam right from the start. Air control could've won you this match.
  • As with Eshez, pretty solid play from the start and good economy control.

Things you could improve on:
  • Same as Eshez with the energy requirements of this map. You need more power generators early on; you stalled pretty badly for a short while as well.
  • Very bad scouting. You never saw Eshez's base until after 15 minutes. Knowing what your opponent is up to is priceless.
  • Failed to use air advantage effectively. You had plenty of bombers and more interceptors than Eshez throughout the game. Eshez had no AA in his base and plenty of fabricators and engineers to bomb. Had you used your bombers better I think you could have won the game.
  • Don't forget about a navy in future.

Game rating 7/10

Nice review smile.gif sounds pretty accurate.

I do think that this could have been different if he used his air control.
Although I think I was at T2 by the time he had a clear air control, so dunno how that would have developed biggrin.gif

I didn't stall that bad on energy I think but having a bit more energy at some points of the game could have helped a lot. I'll remember that one.

Yeah you didn't stall as bad as last time but still not great. It was -100 at a couple of points so yeah.

Heh good review. I think Eshez focus on naval was joker here, paired with Outs terrible scouting.

Well I was kinda avoiding G.R. until the new system came in but I thought I would watch this one as a one off biggrin.gif This was a good game but the outcome was rather predictable. I knew Eshes would win smile.gif I have seen a couple Open Palms games where he gets pushed back in the early game and then comes back to claim wictory thanks to great late game economy management.
