[R][3217] xan_ vs TheFennec

My first submitted replay, and certainly my best game ever. I got matched against TheFennec, actual top50 player, and pushed all my forces into the battle.

The game starts normally with some harass, i established some pd's in the middle to secure while TheFennec tech up quite fast, in fact really faster than me. I woke up when i saw Harbis and tried to change the way of the battle while he was sending t1+t3.

The end is a surprise.

I would be really glad to have a review on this one, and i need to work on BO and generally on Aeons, i'm used to be a Cybran player.

Game Summary

Aeon mirror on Theta Passage. Xan pushed early with his commander and claims about 70% map control by putting up point defenses, sealing off the upper part of the map. Thefennec has the slightly better economy by faster mex upgrades. thefennec walks most of his units straight into xan's defenses. This gives him a unit disadvantage, allowing Xan to finish the game.

xan_

+ Early scouts. But if you decide to scout this early, build a third (and maybe fourth) scout to see what is happening at the passages through the ridge.
+ Early comm push. Your point defenses did a great job at securing most of the map for you.
+ Used commander offensively throughout entire game... You killed a lot of aurora's smile.gif
- You should use formation attacks. Aurora's in formation can kill a lot more then loosely running ones.
- If you secure the middle, please have your commander or some engineer reclaim the mass there.
- Mediocre scouting, and no radar until almost 20 minutes in the game. This really hurts your aurora's since they can't see what they should fire at.
- You had no idea what was going on near the south passage due to lack of radar/scout. You could have prevented him building a base there very early.
- After thefennec's first attack though the passage, you didn't even try to defend it, and you didn't rebuild your mexes.

TheFennec

+ Better eco late game
+ Faster t3 teching
+ Built expansion near the passage in the ridge
- Mediocre scouting/no radar
- You could have used more factories
- There were 2 completely undefended passages, yet you decided throughout the game to push against xan_'s defenses. You could have severly damaged his base if you'd have sent more units down those passages.

Overall score: 4/10. The players did a healthy job harassing each other from very early in the game, but both players ignored various opportunities to severly damage the enemy.

Just mix in a lot of scouts in your build queues... Scouts dont cost much. If I play aeon I usually have 1 scout and 5 aurora's or something like that in my queue

Yes, i try to...

Main problem for me is to think to do it, and have time to do it. I don't play really fast, not a lot of APM's, so i'm trying to balance this slowness by increasing units management and outsmarting my adversary, juste because i'm pretty sure to lose in teching and prod.

I try...

PS : Eh, Replay Reviewer, grats smile.gif

I would suggest doing 1:3 scout:aurora build queues. At least thats what i do.
In addition, on small maps a radar can prove useful. I usually build 1-2 since they will give intel on the entire map since its to small.
