This was intense. I've never really played a game on a map this small that went so far to be nothing but harbs, so there were times where I was just thinking, what do I do now? Anyways, we both thought this was a good game, wouldn't mind a review.

yes, same here. ive never had a game go that far in. at the rate we kept taking chunks of eachothers bases, it seemed all tactics went out the window.

some great tips on where i went wrong, especially in early game where i clearly had advantage (score wise) yet couldnt seem to get to his base would be nice. also, once we got to pure harbs what are some things i shouldve done, done differently, or avoided? what should i have focused on?

oh and one thing i learned the hard way - keep track of his commander

thanks for everyones help, cant wait for review smile.gif

EDIT: after watching replay i realized taht just about every where i went wrong in the game was because i hadnt scouted properly and had bad intelligence ot base my next move on. especially at the end omg. i should be slapped

Basic, you took one hell of an advantage early on, been making more mass for ages but you just refused to spam a bit and get it over with.
instead of having your stupid T1 factory building T1 artilliries while 4509345 harbringers are fighting all over the map, tell it to spam engineers and start spamming.
You know how to build your economy pretty well, but it is worthless if you don't use your resources, one you hit T3 and see you keep on growing get another factory to T3 and spam some more. have 2 or 3 factories pumping engineers, maybe even a T2 factory.

RDon was handicapped pretty badly from the very start but he used every drop of mass he had, at the end there I think he had like 5 factories at T3 buildings harbs.

With more scouting the outcome might have been different since both commander couldn't save them selfs from the swarms of harbs. I think that with such an early game Basic should have won after no more than 15 minutes.
Good job with that early game basic and good job for pulling that win RDon.

entertaining game to watch btw smile.gif

btw, building air second and not using it at all is dumb I think.

You had quite a few interceptors out there early, put them on patrol over his base and bring some bombers or T1 gunship to take out his power and engineers.
that's basically what cost you the early game I think, going for air 2nd would obviously cost some ground so you better do some damage with ur air or else just go 3rd factory.

where are the offensive commander btw? biggrin.gif

A little constructive criticism
Terwilli you had air superiority at the start, some bombers at the 5 min mark hitting his power would of got you much further ahead. You also gave away this advantage when you didn't have to.

When you did get units into his base you seem to forget about them or dance them around when you could of been hitting his power and engineers crushing his unit production capability.

Nice moving defensive lines tho

I've been hugely fucking up with offensive commanders lately, so I decided not to use it this game. I've blown games against people ranked in the 100-200's because I've done stupid things with my comm. Plus, with proper scouting, an offensive commander is very dangerous, because PD's can be put down so quickly if you stop production for a minute and spam them with all of your engineers.

I was saying to basic afterwards that I didn't really use my air advantage. I took it pretty quickly, but didn't produce bombers early enough. I'm still trying to figure out how to do that properly. If you go bombers too soon, then it can be a disaster.

P.S. My name is Terwilligerbuntsone dam it.

yes, i noticed that eshez. im having problems with using my economy to its fullest. i dont know why but for some reason i do that, i almost always have a stronger economy then my opponent yet we still produce about the same. i also couldve/shouldve gotten to T3 before terwilliger but i decided to build some t2 mobile missile launchers first and that cost me the early harbringer advantage which caused me to lose ground on the map sad.gif

im just so frustrated at how much ive been screwing myself over lately.

Happens to the best of us Basic - I lost to a guy ranked in the 1100's the other day on this map. I've watched the replay a hundred times and still have no idea how cry.gif.

But seriously, if you find yourself with a ton of excess mass, upgrade a factory or a mex, hell, build a new factory and more untis. Nothing wrong with using excess mass to beef up economy or help produce more units!

Lastly, IMHO, t3 bots > Mtacs almost always. Unless you need to take something out from a distance and you're stuck in t2, there's very little that an mtac can do that a t3 bot can't do better, plus, you match or beat your opponent to t3 bots smile.gif.
