Here we have a pretty even game on Saltrock Flats, Aeon v Cybran, about 30 minutes long. I know he didn't utilize Aeon to its fullest, but I still think it turned out pretty well...

No chance of a review? I know I won, but it still would be nice to know what I could've done better, etc...

Summary: A pretty standard game. Both players push back and forth. TimmyFred's economy eventually takes over and Out is unable to stop the waves of mantises.

Score: 5/10
Nothing mind blowing, but good solid play to learn from if you're still coming to terms with Supreme Commander. There's a disproportionately large amount of negatives here since it's a lot easier to point out what went wrong than what went right smile.gif.

+ Killed out's early engineer, crashing his early mass income.
+ Forward comm to set up a forward base. This almost got you in trouble though. Just be a little careful.
+ Although it didn't really matter at that point, capturing an engineer and building with it was pretty funny laugh.gif.
- A large amount of excess mass throughout the game. If you can't dump it immediately, use it to upgrade your mexes to give you even more mass.
- Odd build order. I believe you can get a second factory out quite a bit sooner.
- Three idle factories at one point with excess mass cry.gif. If you have to, do what I did and put a sticky note on your monitor with the picture of the factory repeat button. It works!
- Your aurora storming skill could use a little work. Don't just run straight in and keep going in a straight line. Auroras have pretty deadly aim against moving targets. Once you get into the pack you should either stop moving, to improve your mantises' accuracy, or micro around in small circles, making it difficult for auroras to land shots.
- Pretty slow teching of factories, especially for excess mass.
- Few engineers early on. Spam that macro! A few extra mass fabs and power generators over your opponent can lead to big gains later on.
- Building bombers when he had a pack of interceptors and you had none was pretty silly sad.gif.
- Make sure you babysit your reclaiming engineers a little. They tend to get stuck on rocks and trees. Guide them back to wreckage where most of the mass is.

+ Good factory build rate.
+ Resisting the urge to build bombers. Interceptors are a nice preventative measure, but any real bomber fleet is going to get destroyed by the awesome Cybran mobile AA.
+ Radars! Lots easier to deal with than scouts, especially in your base.
- Idle comm at the start, even with excess resources. Keep him moving to get set up faster, or send him offensively to the bottomright of the map.
- Generally poor aurora control. Alt+right click is your friend here. This will make them stop when something is in range to shoot, so they won't get picked off by a wall of mantises.
- Terrorized at the start by a single mantis sad.gif. You had time to retreat that early engineer and send a mantis up there.
- Mass storage too early. The cost is too great for the return you get unless all of your mass extractors are at tier 3 already.
- No reclaiming of all that wreckage frusty.gif. This is one thing an offensive commander excels at.
- Slow to upgrade mexes. This is what got you killed in the long run. By the end of it you had no chance of catching up with TimmyFred's economy.
- Building point defenses too early. Don't build them until it's apparent you will need them. You built enough to upgrade several mexes, and some of them never fired a shot until the very end.
- Huge mass deficit. A little mass deficit is ok, since it means you aren't wasting any mass, but -100 is a problem. It comes down to economic control. If you're sitting at 90% economy, and you tell six engineers to build a point defense, a lot of your resources will be diverted to that point defense. However, if you're at 20%, that point defense is going to go up really slowly.
- Last, and most importantly, there's no excuse for letting his commander get away with 200 hp frusty.gif. When it's close like that, start moving your units forward to surround the commander. Just five more aurora shots would have killed him, but he got out of range just in the nick of time.
