Opponent went full gunship rush. I scouted it (lack of seeing units gave it away) and managed to defend for a good while, but lost in the end because I failed to move underneath a different factory shield. I had killed his mexes by that point and would have won if not for that mistake.
your other mistake was going for his gunships in his base which had x2 factory aa. That gave him a fair few research points i bet (enough to get shields).
In that case, you probably should have been patient to maximise your advantage.
