I started off good, but then screwed up pretty bad. Any feedback welcome on how to improve!

ok.. short review.

You started with fighters, but if you would have scouted you could have seen he wasn't building any air; so why build more fighters?

The way you use your tanks isn't very good. Keep moving them, and use the ctrl+click; that moves them closer together. Don't just move right into the tank-blob of the other. Check replays how 1v1 tank battles are faught.

For the rest; you were building a fatboy, but instead of waiting for it to finish, you attacked with your tanks. Better to wait for the fatboy, and use your tanks to defend your fatboy.

CHRING pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you go air as the UEF on this map (as you should), use your first aircraft to scout your opponent. Once you determined that he was not going air, you should have switched over to bombers.

Tank micro takes a bit of practice. Take up Keeper's advice, play a few rounds with him and ask if you can practice you tank micro.

No need to beat a dead horse with the fatboy issue.

My comments (disregarding anything said above), added as I watch the replay:

You made an airfac. Alright. While I suggest starting with bombers, fighters are OK too, maybe a bit of a waste, since he may never ever make air, but they're a good "safety" start. However, you should scout IMMEDIATELY when you're doing air. You paid for the factory, you paid for the airplane. There's no real reason that you shouldn't scout to find out exactly what he's doing, except that you're hiding air... which is not really a good idea unless you're doing "hidden" gunship spam... Edit: OK, you did scout, albeit a little late...

You scout, you see a landfac and you're still making fighters? Wut? blink.gif ? You should make bombers immediately and start killing engies / economy (mass extractors, etc.) - if they're undefended.

LOL ok now you start bombers when you moved the tanks forward. If you had started bombers earlier and used them together with the tanks, the tank/bot battle would've been a rather easier/faster win.

The tank attack right idea was total fail. You should've been very careful attacking there, and should've killed MExes before moving on. The least you could've done is to make radar that covers the area you intend to attack. Without radar coverage, you never know what's moving against you until it's too late... Tanks totally wasted.

At this point (7:45), your opponent has a slightly better economy (all mass points built and taken except front 2) and therefore, the game escalates downwards for you unless you pull off amazing strategic moves...

Second tank/bot battle - again, you attacked a force which is slightly superior than yours, I'm guessing due to lack of radar. You also had a unit "bunch up" near your factories. In general, you should try attacking with all your units together, as well as the ACU in the mix, continually, if possible, instead of these "small" attacks here and there - which are easily beaten.

When you lost the second battle, the game was effectively lost. He had AA towers, more facs than you, more economy, more research (3 research). You tried to build up your economy, but a little late. The bombers were a nice idea, but the harvog AAbeat them - maybe you should've even stopped them or at least not wasted them that way. Arty was also a nice idea, but just moving units somewhere and leaving them there is a recipe for fail in this game. You have to learn how to "land micro" - watch some replays about that...

In the end, his better micro won the game. Your arty was easily beaten, the bombers were not enough, so they fell to the weak harvog AA, and you got rushed before the fatboy was ready. He also had teleport, so he could've easily killed the fatboys even if you had them ready...

In general, you lost by being too slow with air (too slow to scout, too slow to start bombers, too few bombers to attack stuff), attacking "blind" (no radar coverage) with inferior tank groups, and attacking without any land micro (moving units somewhere and leaving them there to be killed), mismanaging your economy (too slow expansion), and too slow with research (teleport AND bots by the time you barely had your first fatboy out).

Don't give up, you'll get better...
