I hated arcade soooo much, I got him twice in ranked, open palms, him playing Aeon. I got stomped both times and those two games are my only losses. wacko.gif

So now I get arcade on ranked... on open palms... as aeon.... AGAIN wacko.gif

I launch an ill-fated desperate build order in an attempt to catch him by surprise. After my jester is shot down I begin to fear for the worst... cry.gif

I manage to get the advantage, though... so I pull out all the stops and press my advantage... watch and see how it turns out. n1qshok.gif




Also, other than the obvious "keep the fucking jester alive, noob", any tips, advice, reviews?

What you did well
  • While your first Jester failed miserably, your second one did a lot of damage and got all the way to level 5.
  • Excellent use of TML-4. You spotted an opportunity and you used it.
  • Great radar coverage throughout the game.
  • Did a good job of coming back after the initial failed Jester rush.
  • Nice finish thumb.gif
What could be improved
  • I'm actually quite skeptical of the Jester rush now as you can easily tell that your opponent is doing it by their score. This happened once when I played beetlejuice and he already had AA when I got there. Luckily, arcarde was not aware of this.
  • Your first Jester should of went for the engineers building the AA rather than the AA itself. I think you would've done a lot more damage had that happened.
  • Energy stall early on. Make sure you have at least 2 pgen per land factory and 4 per air factory.
  • You built a shield gen when you were already in -ve energy. Build the t2 pgen then then shield gen.
  • You needed to protect those outer mex points. Arcade simply had much more mass coming in than you at the end of the game and it was mainly due to your unprotected mex.
Summary

Obviously the Jester rush could've went much better but I think your main problem in this game was your lack of defense on your mex. Arcarde was able to run all over you and outproduce you at the tier 2 stage of the game. A few t1 PD with Cerberus along with a small army is all you really need. Your ACU would've been useful up at the front line with your weapon upgrade too.

What you did well
  • Reacted to his Jester rush quickly and it paid off.
  • Excellent harass throughout the game. This really gave you your edge in late game.
  • You defended your mex points well for the most part.
What could be improved
  • If you are facing a strong opponent and their score is about 50 below yours in early game then it is likely that they are doing a Jester or bomber rush. Be wary of this.
  • You need to build more factories early on! Even though FunkOff started with an air factory he still had more ground units than you at 4 minutes and managed to attack your main soon after. This should not happen! He was miles behind.
  • Since you didn't have enough factories you were wasting quite a lot of mass at 6 minutes, forcing you to upgrade mex prematurely.
  • Energy stall early on. Same comment as FunkOff.
  • Don't upgrade your unprotected air factory to tier 2, it's just asking to be destroyed and that's what happened. Upgrade one in the middle of your base if you want a tier 2 factory.
Summary

Pretty atrocious start. You should not be put on the defensive right after a failed Jester rush. You just needed more factories to spam more units. You did however play very well later on with excellent raiding. Just a little more scouting and air defense and you would've won. smile.gif

Game rating: 8/10


While you both had a pretty sub-par start the game was very exciting and both players played very well later on. Good game guys.

I think one of the reasons he was behind at the start was I got a couple engies, and the other speed built that T1 AA defense, which cost as much as the jester mass-wise.

BTW, without air rushing, any idea how to beat aeon on palms? It' seems impossible.

Hmm,

Maybe mix mantis with Medusa? Medusa 1-shot aurora so they might be useful. Those Hoplites did very well, you just didn't have enough of them. Perhaps rush to tier 2 for them?

rushing T2 is suicide on palms because even if you get enough T2 tanks to beat his T1 hordes, you'll lose one or both flanks in the process, so he'll out-res you, fast tech, and rape ya.

Also, I probably should have built rhinos instead. Apparanlty the DPS difference between them is larger than I thought.

Which is the biggest reason I don't use many of them... they simply are not reliable.

Wow, great game. Nice TML usuage, FunkOff. You really messed his eco up near the end where you took out his hydro plant, for example.
