Not really sure why he attacks you with 10 mace given how tiny they are...ESPECIALLY since you're French and I wouldn't be massively surprised to see pioneers pop 'em off.
French IMO is always a tough call for Aztec - at least my Aztec - because you need a lot of raiding and fighting to gain your advantage, and those vills just plain spoil it. What I don't get here is why he decides to try take you on - yes, he's got the right mix...but he's caught divided as well and he never gets a good window of opportunity. Pressure on him to make a move I'd guess, in which case great on your part.
